Nonantibiotic strategies are urgently needed to treat acute drug-resistant bacterial pneumonia. Recently, nanomaterial-mediated bacterial cuproptosis has arisen widespread interest due to its superiority against antibiotic resistance. However, it may also cause indiscriminate and irreversible damage to healthy cells.

Infections caused by fungal pathogens are a global health problem, and have created an urgent need for new antimicrobial strategies. This report details the synthesis of lipidated 2-vinyl-4,4-dimethyl-5-oxazolone (VDM) oligomers an optimized Cu(0)-mediated reversible-deactivation radical polymerization (RDRP) approach. Cholesterol-Br was used as an initiator to synthesize a library of oligo-VDM (degree of polymerisation = 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25), with an α-terminal cholesterol group.

To clarify the effects of kefir in critical periods of development in adult diseases, we study the effects of kefir intake during early life on gut microbiota and prevention of colorectal carcinogenesis in adulthood. Lactating Wistar rats were divided into three groups: control (C), kefir lactation (KL), and kefir puberty (KP) groups. The C and KP groups received 1 mL of water/day; KL dams received kefir milk daily (10 CFU/mL) during lactation.

Background And Aim: Although standard triple therapy remains the first-line eradication treatment for H. pylori worldwide, it is unclear whether metronidazole should be included empirically in second-line eradication treatments. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of metronidazole-containing regimens with that of metronidazole-free regimens after failure of first-line eradication using standard triple therapy.

In critically ill patients, the occurrence of multidrug-resistant infection is a significant concern, given its ability to acquire multidrug-resistant, form biofilms and secrete toxic effectors. In Brazil, limited data are available regarding the prevalence of dissemination, and the impact of the type III secretion system (T3SS) on toxin production and biofilm formation in clinical isolates of . This study investigates the dissemination of virulent harbouring the and genes, the presence of T3SS genes and their biofilm-forming capability.
