In gram-negative bacteria, when nutrients are too large or too scarce to diffuse through outer membrane porins, TonB-dependent receptors (TBDRs) are utilized to actively translocate substrates across the outer membrane. is a gram-negative bacterium with a large set of TBDRs, many which have not been fully characterized. Previous studies identified SucA, a TBDR that transports sucrose. Our experiments further characterize the expression of from the promoter and we identify as a tightly controlled, tunable promoter, responsive to changes in sucrose concentration with and without other carbon sources in the media.

A novel hollow capacitive wind pressure sensor is for the first time proposed. The sensing element of the proposed sensor uses a non-parallel plate variable capacitor, whose movable electrode plate uses a transversely uniformly loaded annular conductive membrane with a fixed outer edge and a rigid inner edge (acting as the wind pressure sensitive element of the sensor). Due to the unique hollow configuration of the proposed sensor, it can be used alone to detect the pressure exerted by fast-moving air in the atmosphere or by fast-moving air or gas, etc.

Seeds are a major source of contamination by foodborne pathogens such as , , and , significantly increasing the risk of foodborne diseases associated with fresh produce like sprouts. In this study, we described novel endolysins and the engineered variants that exhibited potent bactericidal activity against these pathogens. These endolysins demonstrated strong bactericidal effects independently of outer membrane permeabilizers, effectively killing , , and to undetectable levels (>4-log kill) at concentrations as low as 12.

is an opportunistic pathogen with a multidrug-resistant profile that has become a critical threat to global public health. It is one of the main causes of severe nosocomial infections, including ventilator-associated pneumonia, chronic infections in patients with cystic fibrosis, and bloodstream infections in immunosuppressed individuals. Development of vaccines against is a major challenge owing to the high capacity of this bacterium to form biofilms, its wide arsenal of virulence factors (including secretion systems, lipopolysaccharides, and outer membrane proteins), and its ability to evade the host immune system.

The C58 is a phytopathogen able to infect numerous species of cultivated and ornamental plants. During infection, bacteria genetically transform plant cells and induce the formation of tumours at the site of invasion. Bacterial cell wall components play a crucial role in the infection process.
