A growing need for rapid disease detection worldwide highlights the importance of innovative approaches to ensure prompt diagnosis and more effective patient care. As of now, various nanobioengineered systems have been developed and applied for disease diagnosis at an early stage, and a few are in clinical trials currently. However, the affordability and sustainability of diagnostic systems "Biosensors" are still being questioned in the translational research. To overcome these impediments and accelerate translational research, my laboratory is trying to develop sustainable, clinically relevant, nanobioengineered platforms for the detection of disease biomarkers at minimum cost.

Access to healthy and affordable food remains a challenge for under-resourced communities due to uneven food distribution and the need for reliable transportation. This study developed and evaluated an interactive Geographic Information System (GIS)-based food asset map for a low-income community in Windham, Connecticut to improve awareness of food resources and expand opportunities for fresh food access. Using the human-centered design (HCD) framework and the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) model, the map integrates food locations, transportation routes, and assistance eligibility.

Machine Learning-Driven Prediction of Composite Materials Properties Based on Experimental Testing Data.

Polymers (Basel)

March 2025

Department of Automobile and Manufacturing Technologies, Faculty of Manufacturing Technologies, Technical University of Košice, Bayerova 1, 08001 Prešov, Slovakia.

The growing demand for high-performance and cost-effective composite materials necessitates advanced computational approaches for optimizing their composition and properties. This study aimed at the application of machine learning for the prediction and optimization of the functional properties of composites based on a thermoplastic matrix with various fillers (two types of fibrous, four types of dispersed, and two types of nano-dispersed fillers). The experimental methods involved material production through powder metallurgy, further microstructural analysis, and mechanical and tribological testing.

Meta-analyses of the global impact of non-antibiotic feed additives on livestock performance and health.

J Adv Res

March 2025

The Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh EH25 9RG, UK; College of Animal Science and Technology, Northwest A & F University, Yangling 712100, PR China. Electronic address:

Introduction: The impact of non-antibiotic feed additives on livestock performance and health is contingent upon a multitude of variables, including the animal species, dosage and type of feed additives, and duration of oral administration. However, there is a paucity of knowledge regarding the relationship between these factors and the performance of livestock animals.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to conduct a global meta-analysis based on a pool of empirical studies to investigate the effects of dietary additives on growth, production, blood metabolites, immunity, intestinal morphology, and the abundance of gut microbiota in livestock.
