Mussel Foot Protein Membrane-Enclosed Crystalline Drug with Zero-Order Release Kinetics for Long-Acting Therapy.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

March 2025

State Key Laboratory of Advanced Drug Delivery and Release Systems, College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, 310058, China.

Injectable formulations with sustained and steady release capabilities are critically required to treat diseases requiring temporary or lifelong continuous therapy, especially for drugs with a short half-life. Additionally, achieving a sufficiently high drug loading in a single dose remains a persistent challenge. Herein, by mimicking the formation principles of mussel adhesive plaques, we have developed membrane-enclosed crystalline systems of insulin and progesterone as model macro- and small-molecular crystalline drugs.

Robust Mechanically Interlocked Network Ionogels.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

January 2025

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Frontiers Science Center for Transformative Molecules, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Electrical Insulation and Thermal Aging, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, 200240, P. R. China.

Ionogels have attracted considerable attention as versatile materials due to their unique ionic conductivity and thermal stability. However, relatively weak mechanical performance of many existing ionogels has hindered their broader application. Herein, we develop robust, tough, and impact-resistant mechanically interlocked network ionogels (MINs) by incorporating ion liquids with mechanical bonds that can dissipate energy while maintain structural stability.

A Universal Strategy of Anti-Tumor mRNA Vaccine by Harnessing "Off-the-Shelf" Immunity.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

February 2025

National Key Laboratory of Advanced Drug Delivery and Release Systems, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, 310058, China.

Personalized neoantigen cancer mRNA vaccines are promising candidates for precision medicine. However, the difficulty of identifying neoantigens heavily hinders their broad applicability. This study developed a universal strategy of anti-tumor mRNA vaccine by harnessing "off-the-shelf" immunity to known antigens.

Modifying the Resistant Starch Content and the Retrogradation Characteristics of Potato Starch Through High-Dose Gamma Irradiation.

Gels

November 2024

State Key Laboratory of Rice Biology, Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs for Nuclear-Agricultural Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310058, China.

Potato starch is widely utilized in the food industry. Gamma irradiation is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly method for starch modification. Nevertheless, there is a scarcity of comprehensive and consistent knowledge regarding the physicochemical characteristics of high-dose gamma-irradiated potato starch, retrogradation properties in particular.
