[Short-Term Outcomes of Robot-Assisted Laparoscopic Surgery for Rectal Cancer in Our Department]. | LitMetric

We investigated the short-term outcomes of robot-assisted surgery for rectal cancer in our department. Among 98 cases of colorectal cancer who underwent robot-assisted surgery between October 2019 and December 2023, 91 cases of rectal cancer surgery using the da Vinci X surgical system® were included, and clinicopathological and surgical outcomes were examined. The patients included 58 males and 33 females, with a median age of 71 years. The surgical procedures were high anterior resection in 9 cases, low anterior resection in 39 cases, ultra-low anterior resection in 14 cases, inter-sphincter resection in 3 cases, Hartmann's procedure in 6 cases, and rectal amputation in 20 cases. Lateral lymph node dissection was performed in 6 cases, and diverting ileostomy was performed in 20 cases. The surgical outcomes were the median operative time 363 minutes, console time 196 minutes, and blood loss 20 mL. Complications of Clavien-Dindo classification Ⅲ or higher were observed in 18.7% of cases, and the postoperative hospital stay was 16 days. In our department, we basically perform robot-assisted surgery for rectal cancer cases, except for some RS cases, but there are not a few postoperative complications, and we think that it is necessary to analyze the causes of these in the future.
