The combined impact of multiple human activities is the primary driver of coastal ecosystem degradation, and comprehending its mechanisms is essential for developing adaptive management strategies. A coastal ecosystem model coupling multiple human activities, including runoff discharge, reclamation, mariculture, and atmospheric deposition, was developed using the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS) coupled with the Carbon, Silicate, and Nitrogen Ecosystem (CoSiNE) model. The model performance was rigorously evaluated in the Bohai Sea as the study area. Through orthogonal experiment, multiple human activity scenarios were designed, and the contribution rates of these activities to marine ecological factors were quantified using variance analysis. The results showed that (1) the simulated results of dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIP), and Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) in 2020 were compared with observational data, whose average R values were 0.839, 0.820, 0.814, respectively, which indicated the simulated results were generally in accordance with observational data. (2) Orthogonal experiment results revealed that the contribution rates of runoff discharge to DIN, DIP, the nitrogen content of phytoplankton and zooplankton all ranked first, reaching 59.73 %, 65.05 %, 66.92 %, and 68.23 % respectively, indicating that runoff discharge is a key factor affecting the Bohai Sea ecosystem. (3) The response of ecological factors to human activities exhibited significant spatial heterogeneity, with the impacts of runoff discharge, reclamation, and mariculture diminishing with increasing distance from the coastline. The proposed model not only facilitates efficient scenario simulation but also demonstrates high accuracy, making it a valuable tool for quantifying the combined impact of multiple human activities and simulating coastal ecosystems under intense anthropogenic pressure.

Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSC) have been transplanted for therapeutic purposes with inconsistent results. MSC preparations are heterogeneous, and this person-to-person heterogeneity may account for the variable clinical outcomes. Additionally, the mechanisms of therapeutic action for MSC are unclear which confounds attempts to understand and identify factors that may account for variable clinical results.

Art was initially thought of as a single function linked mainly to spatial perception and right hemisphere functional specialization. Art was also considered to be diametrically opposed to language, further solidifying the right hemisphere specialization model. This view remained dominant for many decades.

Background: The "Fundamentals of Nursing" course is crucial for equipping novice undergraduate nursing students with essential skills for their professional practice. However, a gap exists between nursing education and clinical readiness-a challenge exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and issues like absenteeism in clinical sessions. The flipped classroom has been proposed as an innovative strategy to bridge this gap, offering students opportunities for self-paced learning before class and enabling more active, hands-on practice during lab sessions.

Blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome (BRBNS) is a rare congenital clinical syndrome characterized by venous malformations in multiple organs, including the skin, gastrointestinal tract, liver, and lungs. In June 2022, Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University admitted a rare case of BRBNS. The patient was hospitalized due to abdominal distension and a history of recurrent hematochezia.

Mechanisms of cognitive impairment associated with cerebral infarction.

Cerebral infarction is a common type of stroke with high incidence and disability rates, and most patients experience varying degrees of cognitive impairment. The manifestations and severity of post-infarction cognitive impairment are influenced by multiple interacting factors, and its pathophysiological mechanisms are highly complex, involving pericyte degeneration, excessive generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), overproduction of glutamate, and overactivation of autophagy. After cerebral infarction, abnormal pericyte function activates neuroinflammation and facilitates the entry of inflammatory mediators into the brain; detachment of pericytes from blood vessels disrupts the integrity of the blood-brain barrier.
