Background: Twenty percent of lung donors in our transplant program carry respiratory carbapenem-resistant (CR) gram-negative bacteria (GNB), most commonly CR Acinetobacter baumannii. Universal multiplex panel testing of lung transplant donors was introduced in June 2022 as a strategy to expedite CR-GNB detection and optimize perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis. We herein describe our experiences with this approach.

: A positive intraoperative bile culture (bacterobilia) is considered to be a risk factor for increased morbidity after pancreatoduodenectomy. The aim of our study was to describe the frequency of bacterobilia with a special emphasis on antibiotic resistance and to analyze the association of these findings with postoperative complications, in particular with postoperative pancreatic fistula. : From a prospective database, patients with available intraoperative bile cultures (n = 95) were selected and analyzed.

Purpose: The AFTERHERNIA Project aims to shift the focus of hernia surgery towards patient-reported outcomes by examining the impact of surgical methods and long-term complications on a national level. Groin and ventral hernia repairs are common surgical procedures with significant impact on patient quality of life and healthcare costs. Most large-scale studies focus on clinical outcomes like reoperation and readmission rates, rather than patient-reported outcomes.
