This review provides an in-depth exploration of the evolving role of immunotherapy in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, with a particular focus on immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and their associated predictive biomarkers. We present a detailed analysis of established biomarkers, such as PD-L1, microsatellite instability (MSI), tumor mutational burden (TMB), and the tumor microenvironment (TME), as well as emerging biomarkers, including gut microbiota and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). The predictive value of these biomarkers in guiding clinical decision-making and optimizing immunotherapy outcomes is thoroughly discussed.

Aim: This study aimed to investigate the role of two flgJ genes in flagellar assembly and biofilm regulation in Vibrio alginolyticus.
Methods And Results: To investigate the functions of the flgJ, overexpression and gene knockout techniques were employed. Overexpression of flgJ1 enhanced the strain's growth capacity, leading to a rapid bacterial concentration that initiated biofilm formation.

Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSC) have been transplanted for therapeutic purposes with inconsistent results. MSC preparations are heterogeneous, and this person-to-person heterogeneity may account for the variable clinical outcomes. Additionally, the mechanisms of therapeutic action for MSC are unclear which confounds attempts to understand and identify factors that may account for variable clinical results.

The human brain is an intricate network of cortical regions interconnected by white matter pathways, dynamically supporting cognitive functions. While cortical asymmetries have been consistently reported, the asymmetry of white matter connections remains less explored. This chapter provides a brief overview of asymmetries observed at the cortical, subcortical, cytoarchitectural, and receptor levels before exploring the detailed connectional anatomy of the human brain.
