Plant-Based Diets Across the Spectrum of Kidney Disease.

Diet is gaining traction as a major chronic kidney disease (CKD)-related risk factor for death and disability. Furthermore, a "healthy" diet in patients with CKD is associated with reduced mortality. The data to be discussed support diet as the foundational, "food integrated with pharmacologic therapy," approach to management of individuals with CKD and those at risk for it. This is the reverse of the current approach in which pharmacologic therapy is considered as foundational to CKD management. In this Review, we will discuss the following: Overview of plant diet approaches - discuss different types of Plant Based Diet Approaches.Evidence from trials and observational studies regarding CKD incidence and progression in participants without known CKD with plant-based diets (PBD)Efficacy of PBD in participants with known CKD and across various stages of CKD.

Purpose: The Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay (MIND) diet is a novel dietary approach that exhibits neuroprotective benefits. Studies have found that the MIND diet can effectively reduce the risk of depression and anxiety, but the relationship between them is unclear among older Chinese people.
