Oral FPR2/ALX modulators tune myeloid cell activity to ameliorate mucosal inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease.

Acta Pharmacol Sin

Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Children's Hospital of Fudan University, National Children's Medical Center, Shanghai, 201102, China.

Current treatments of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) largely depend on anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive strategies with unacceptable efficacy and adverse events. Resolution or repair agents to treat IBD are not available but potential targets like formyl peptide receptor 2 (FPR2/ALX) may fill the gap. In this study we evaluated the therapeutic effects of two small molecule FPR2/ALX modulators (agonist Quin-C1 and antagonist Quin-C7) against IBD.

Unlabelled: Fanconi Anemia (FA) is a heritable syndrome characterized by DNA damage repair deficits, frequent malformations and a significantly elevated risk of bone marrow failure, leukemia, and mucosal head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC). Hematopoietic stem cell gene therapy can prevent marrow failure and lower leukemia risk, but mucosal gene therapy to lower HNSCC risk remains untested. Major knowledge gaps include an incomplete understanding of how rapidly gene-corrected cellular lineages could spread through the oral epithelium, and which delivery parameters are critical for ensuring efficient gene correction.

The favorable course of postoperative healing is a crucial stage in surgical treatment and a significant factor in achieving successful outcomes. The rehabilitation of patients with cleft lip and palate also depends on various other factors. To a great extent, the success of treatment depends on an integrated approach that includes both surgical interventions and subsequent rehabilitation measures.
