Genome-Wide Scan of Fifth Finger Clinodactyly.

Mol Genet Genomic Med

March 2025

Center for Craniofacial and Dental Genetics, Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.

Background: Fifth finger clinodactyly describes the conspicuous curvature of the fifth digit toward the other digits of the hand. Phenotypic expression can range from mild and almost imperceptible to severe, where function is impacted, and clinical intervention may be required. Although classically considered an autosomal dominant trait based on early family studies, no genes have been mapped for the trait.

mRNA-based therapies have broad applications in various disease treatments and have been applied in protein replacement therapy, gene editing, and vaccine development. Numerous research studies have been carried out aiming to increase the stability of mRNA, improve its translational efficiency, and reduce its immunogenicity. However, given mRNA's large molecular size and strong electronegativity, the safety and efficient delivery of mRNA into the target cells remains the critical rate-limiting step in current mRNA drug development.

Introduction: In hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, optimal results are achieved when donors and patients are matched regarding their human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genes. Population-specific HLA allele and haplotype frequency distributions determine the probabilities to find matched donors in a stem cell donor registry of given size and ethnic composition.

Methods: To evaluate the needs of Indian patients with regard to future donor recruitment, we analyzed a large data set of =130,518 potential stem cell donors registered with DKMS-BMST, a Bangalore-based donor registry with nationwide donor recruitment activities.

Background: Primary pulmonary rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), a rare soft tissue sarcoma, is characterized by a high recurrence rate and a poor prognosis. This systematic review aims to summarize the clinical characteristics, pathological features, treatment, and clinical outcomes of primary pulmonary RMS, and to analyze prognostic-related risk factors to provide robust evidence for future treatment strategies.

Methods: Five databases (MEDLINE, Scopus, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, EMBASE, and Web of Science) were searched using the relevant terms including "pulmonary", "lung", "alveolar", "ERMS", "ARMS", "RMS" and "rhabdomyosarcoma".
