Background: Cystic echinococcosis has a low incidence even in endemic countries. It is a chronic and complex zoonosis that in many cases presents delay in diagnosis; it typically affects the liver in up to 90% of the cases, being disseminated pulmonary disease the most common in young subjects, while the rate of cases located only in the pulmonary parenchyma is low. In Mexico it is considered a disease of low endemicity.

Pulmonary hydatid cysts are rare entities, accounting for a small fraction of radiological findings. This case report presents a 43-year-old male with an atypical presentation initially suggestive of pneumonia. During a 13-day hospital admission, the patient's condition deteriorated, and further investigations revealed a complicated ruptured hydatid cyst.

Cardiac hydatid disease which is caused by the larval form of Echinococcus granuloses is the rarest yet significant presentation which is characterized by the formation of cystic lesions within the heart. It is not as common as hepatic, pulmonary hydatidosis, hence poses a unique diagnostic challenge. It may lead to severe complications like cardiac tamponade, embolism and arrhythmias.

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the surgical outcomes of liver and lung hydatid cysts treated either simultaneously or in separate stages. The main focus was to determine the impact of surgical timing on postoperative complications and overall patient recovery, with an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 42 patients diagnosed with concomitant liver and lung hydatid cysts between March 2009 and July 2020.
