Aim: Facial deformity can have a significant impact on a patient's self image and the ability to function and interact socially. Exact estimation of size is challenging when trying to replace a missing part. Aim of this study was to determine if there is a correlation between vertical length of nose and ear in Indian population.
Material And Methods: Measurements of nose and ear were recorded in 263 healthy volunteers with mean age of 28.66 years.
Results: The mean length of left, right ear and nose in females was 6.05, 6.05 and 5.22 cm respectively. The mean length of left, right ear and nose in males was 6.37, 6.37 and 5.39 cm respectively. Overall mean length of left ear, right ear and nose was 6.16 cm, 6.17 cm and 5.28 cm respectively. Overall and gender wise mean length of nose significantly correlated with mean length of right and left ear.
Conclusion: There was significant positive correlation between nose and ear lengths. This information is useful to estimate size for ear reconstruction and prosthesis in cases of prosthetic rehabilitation.
