Novel therapeutic strategies are essential for enhancing efficacy and accelerating the treatment of diabetes mellitus. This investigation focused on incorporating empagliflozin into a composite of polylactic acid and polycaprolactone, resulting in the fabrication of drug-loaded fibrous patches (DFPs) for transdermal application, both by electrospinning (ES) and by pressurized gyration (PG). Scanning electron microscopy results revealed that DFPs generated through the PG method exhibited smaller diameters and a larger surface area than ES. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction analyses confirmed the successful encapsulation of the drug in both DFPs. DFPs/PG exhibited a controlled release of 98.7 ± 1.3% of the total drug over 14 days, while DFPs/ES released 98.1 ± 2.1% in 12 days, according to drug release studies. This study underscores that the PG method can generate DFPs with extended controlled release. 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide test results validate the biocompatibility of DFPs, affirming their lack of adverse effects on human dermal fibroblast cell viability. Consequently, DFPs can be manufactured for transdermal administration using PG, exhibiting similar characteristics to ES but with the added advantage of mass production capability.

For millennia, aloe vera (AV) and eucalyptus oil (EO) have been recognized as natural sources of healing and have been utilized for medicinal purposes in the realm of health. As an attempt to treat pressure sores, AV and eucalyptus oil were added as supplements to biocompatible and biodegradable poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) polymer to synthesize nano and micro fibrous wound dressings by the electrospinning process. Additive solubility in polymeric matrix is the key parameter to achieve the synthesis of homogeneous fibers with controlled release of therapeutic oils, cure and humidity; therefore, lecithin as herbal (soybean) based emulsifier was used to control additive/polymer solubility.

This study introduces a comprehensive approach to enhancing SiN nanofilters for exosome isolation from bovine milk using the electrophoretic oscillation-assisted tangent-flow ultrafiltration (EPOTF) process. Reinforcing the nanofilter with electro-spun poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) fibers significantly improved durability under high-pressure conditions, withstanding nearly 2.8 times greater pressures than nonreinforced nanofilters.

The intrinsic ability of these scaffold materials to generate piezoelectric currents presents a major proposition for increasing the complexity of the scaffold and facilitating tissue healing. The piezoelectric behavior of bone tissue has been an area of interest for many researchers in the past. However, these properties have not been given much attention in new osteochondral tissue scaffold designs, whereas the established design factors mainly concentrate on the structural and mechanical characteristics of the tissue in question.

Membrane distillation (MD) is an emerging desalination technique that uses low-grade energy to extract water vapor from saline solutions. In a thermally driven MD system, achieving a lower heat transfer and a higher mass transportation rate is desirable. To balance the trade-off between heat transfer and mass transportation, we developed novel dual-layered electrospun Janus nanofibrous membranes in this study, showing asymmetric wettability on each layer.
