In this study, magnetic FeO-coated metal-organic framework composites, CONH-MIL-101(Cr)/FeO, were synthesized by depositing FeO particles on the surface of amidated MIL-101(Cr). The scanning electron microscope images show that the MIL-101(Cr) crystals were uniformly coated by FeO particles. The magnetic hysteresis curve of CONH-MIL-101(Cr)/FeO reveals a saturated magnetization value of 23.47 emu/g. The water contact angle decreases from 61.00° to 12.88° after amidation and FeO coating. The magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) efficiency of CONH-MIL-101(Cr)/FeO for benzoic acid derivatives was studied. Under optimal conditions, the adsorption and desorption processes can be completed within 5 min, and the maximum adsorption capacity to protocatechuic acid (PCA) and vanillic acid (VA) is 10.31 and 17.30 mg/g. Coupling the MSPE with high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection, the detection limit for PCA and VA was 0.29 and 0.58 ng/mL, respectively. The mean recoveries of PCA and VA in spiked samples ranged from 82.85%-91.27% with relative standard deviations lower than 0.33%-5.33%. This study provides inspiration for the fabrication of novel magnetic sorbents, and a reliable method for the adsorption and analysis of benzoic acid derivatives.

Strigolactones (SLs) are novel plant hormones that play crucial roles in regulating plant growth and development. The stereoisomers of SLs often exhibit distinct biological activities, making their chiral separation and analysis essential for understanding their regulatory roles in plant branching. This study focused on the chiral separation and characterization of SL stereoisomers, including GR24 (synthetic) and strigol (natural).

The 5-Hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) level determination is crucial for predicting, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and pharmacological treatment of schizophrenia. To realize the extraction of trace 5-HT in complex matrix samples, a magnetic molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MMISPE) pretreatment method was developed. In combination with UPLC-MS/MS, the method was possible to achieve the quantification of 1 ng/mL 5-HT in tissue samples.

In this study, the effect of magnetized solvent on the synthesis and properties of magnetic graphene oxide@UiO-66 (MGO@UiO-66) nanocomposite as sorbent was investigated. The prepared sorbent was used for the magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) of remdesivir drug from water and plasma samples. The extracted remdesivir was quantitatively determined by high-performance liquid chromatography with a photodiode array detector (HPLC-PDA).

Magnetic aromatic polyamide (MAPA) composites were synthesized using a green mechanochemical ball milling process and used for magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) and detection of trace level fluoroquinolone antibiotics (FQs) from water samples. The formation of MAPAs was facilitated by deep eutectic systems (DESys) created from magnetic beads and organic monomers during ball milling. A comprehensive study was conducted to investigate the kinetics, thermodynamics, and mechanisms of MAPA adsorption of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride (CIP) and ofloxacin (OFL) from water.
