Substantial forestation-induced greening has occurred over South China, affecting the terrestrial carbon storage and atmospheric chemistry. However, these effects have not been systematically quantified due to complex biosphere-atmosphere interactions. Here we integrate satellite observations, forestry statistics, and an improved atmospheric chemistry model to investigate the impacts of forestation on both carbon storage and ozone air quality. We find that forestation alleviates surface ozone via enhanced dry deposition and suppressed turbulence mixing, outweighing the effect of enhanced biogenic emissions. The 2005-2019 greening mitigated the growing season mean surface ozone by 1.4 ± 2.3 ppbv, alleviated vegetation exposure by 15%-41% (depending on ozone metrics) in forests over South China, and increased Chinese forest carbon storage by 1.8 (1.6-2.1) Pg C. Future forestation may enhance carbon storage by 4.3 (3.8-4.8) Pg C and mitigate surface ozone over South China by 1.4 ± 1.2 ppbv in 2050. Air quality management should consider such co-benefits as forestation becomes necessary for carbon neutrality.

To address the challenges associated with the storage and application of traditional carbon dot (CDs) solutions, this study introduces a cyan fluorescent carbon dot-based hydrogel (CDs-SCH). The hydrogel was synthesized by integrating cyan fluorescent CDs, derived from penicillamine and m-phenylenediamine, with carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and sodium alginate (SA), which was then mixed with acrylamide (AM). The resulting CDs-SCH hydrogel was extensively characterized, focusing on its morphology, chemical structure, and fluorescence behavior.

Among the various carbon-based electrode materials, porous carbon spheres stand out for their exceptional properties, such as high specific surface area (SSA), high percussion density, and distinctive surface chemistry, which are conducive to uniform surface modification and acceleration of electrolyte diffusion, thereby enhancing the energy density of battery. Hollow carbon spheres, with their unique structure, are drawing increasing attention for their potential applications in energy storage devices. In this work, hollow hierarchical porous carbon spheres (HPCS) were synthesized by one-pot method using alkali lignin extracted from corn straw as carbon precursor, CTAB as template agent, Zn as crosslinking agent and KHCO as activator.

The present work reports the development of a novel molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) electrochemical sensor for limonene determination in orange industry wastewater. MIP sensor was constructed through the pyrrole electropolymerization in the presence of limonene on glassy carbon electrode surface (GCE/MIP). Electrode surface as characterized by electrochemical, spectroscopy and microscopic techniques.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs)-based nanomaterials have great potential in the field of electrochemical energy storage due to their abundant pore size, high specific surface area, controllable structure and porosity, and homogeneous metal center. MOFs complexes and derivatives not only inherit the original morphology characteristics of MOFs but also provide excellent electrochemical performance. Batteries operating in aqueous electrolytes are cheaper, safer, and have higher ionic conductivity than those operating in conventional organic electrolytes.

Phosphorus is considered an ideal anode material for lithium ion storage by virtue of its high theoretical capacity and moderate lithiation potential. However, issues such as large volume expansion of phosphorus leading to an electrical loss of contact and instability of the solid electrolyte interface hinder its practical performance. Improvement strategies that can effectively suppress volume expansion and provide stable electrical contacts are urgently needed.
