An innovative light scattering immunoassay was developed using an AuNPs etching strategy. Three types of anisotropic gold nanoparticles, including gold nanocubes, nanorods, and nanoflowers with distinct morphologies, were utilized to investigate how these morphological differences affect the sensitivity of light scattering signal transduction. Based on theoretical insights into light scattering and electromagnetic fields, gold nanocubes were identified as the optimal probes for enhancing light scattering signal transduction and were employed to construct an immunoassay for detecting staphylococcal enterotoxin A (SEA). The developed immunoassay achieved ultrahigh sensitivity for SEA detection in milk samples, with a detection limit of 10.39 pg mL, which is 190 times lower than that of conventional ELISA. The proposed immunoassay was validated across ten food samples, demonstrating high accuracy and robustness. Given these promising results, we believe this method has significant potential for screening trace levels of SEA in food products.

We present a structural characterization of a low-transition-temperature mixture (LTTM), consisting of thymol and carvacrol, at an equimolar ratio. Carvacrol and thymol are natural regioisomers of terpenes. When combined at an equimolar ratio, they form a liquid mixture at room temperature, with supercooling capability and glass transition at ca.

The fusion kinetics of block copolymer micelles in dilute solutions have been investigated. As a model system, 1,2-polybutadiene--poly(ethylene oxide) micelles in the ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate have been studied. The ionic liquid is a selective solvent for poly(ethylene oxide), promoting the self-assembly of the block copolymer into spherical micelles.

The transport and fate of antibiotics are significantly influenced by co-existing colloidal and nanosized substances, such as clay particles. Montmorillonite, a common clay mineral with a thin nano-sheet-like structure, enhances antibiotic (e.g.

Chitosan is widely used in drug delivery applications, due to its biocompatibility, bio-degradability, and low toxicity. Nevertheless, its properties can be enhanced through the physical or chemical modification of its amino and hydroxyl groups. This work explores the electrostatic complexation of two chitosan samples of differing lengths with two poly(-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) homopolymers of different molecular weight carrying a chargeable carboxyl end group.
