Polygonatum cyrtonema (PC) is a traditional Chinese herb used in both food and medicine with considerable bioactivity. The nine-steam processed pieces of PC are the main form of clinical application, while research has focused on the polysaccharide of their crude form. This study evaluated the physicochemical characteristics and protective effects of crude PC (PCP) and nine-steamed PC (NPCP) against cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced immunosuppression. The findings indicate significant differences in the physicochemical characteristics of PCP and NPCP. The nine steaming treatments reduced the polysaccharide content by 8.15 %, and significantly altered monosaccharide proportion. Both polysaccharides accelerated the recovery of spleen and thymus indexes and restored the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IgA, IgM, and IgG in the serum of CTX-treated mice in a dose-dependent manner as well as improved the morphology of spleen, thymus, and colon tissues. Furthermore, PCP and NPCP promoted the production of SCFAs and the recovery of intestinal flora in CTX-induced immunosuppressed mice. NPCP exhibited a better protective effect against CTX-induced immunosuppression. The results of this study confirm the importance of the nine-steaming method for PC and provide a basis for the further development of NPCP as a functional food to alleviate CTX-induced immunosuppression.

Background: Cyclophosphamide (CTX) often induces oocyte and granulosa cell injury, leading to fertility loss in young female cancer survivors. Deciphering the mechanisms underlying follicular cell injury could offer novel insights into fertility preservation. Granulosa cells represent the most abundant cell type within the follicles and can be generally categorized as cumulus granulosa cells (CGCs) and mural granulosa cells (MGCs).

This study aims to investigate the effects of selenium Broussonetia papyrifera polysaccharide (Se-BPP) on growth performance, immune regulation, intestinal barrier function, and gut microbiota in cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced immunosuppressed chicks. A total of 120 one-day-old male yellow-feathered broilers were randomly divided into five groups: normal control group (NC), model control group (MC), low-dose Se-BPP group (Se-L), high-dose Se-BPP group (Se-H), and Astragalus polysaccharide (APS) group The Se-L and Se-H groups were supplemented with 0.1 % or 0.

Background: Cyclophosphamide (CTX) is the first-line medication for the treatment of breast cancer, although it potentially leads to severe ovarian dysfunction and even premature ovarian failure (POF). However, the mechanism of CTX-induced POF remains unclear. Mesenchymal stem cell-based therapy has been wildly used for treating numerous diseases.

Background: Chemotherapy-induced immunosuppression significantly impacts patient's quality of life. Umbelliferone (UMB) is known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-apoptotic properties, but its effects on cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced immunosuppression need further study.

Methods: We established a CTX-induced immunosuppressed mouse model and administered varying doses of UMB.
