Purpose: Central hypovolemia is considered to lead to a compensatory increase in cardiac contractility. From a physiological perspective, left ventricular (LV) twisting motion, which plays an important role in maintaining cardiac output, should be enhanced during central hypovolemia, but previous studies have shown inconsistent findings. Using 3D echocardiography, we tested the hypothesis that the LV twisting and untwisting motion would be enhanced during severe central hypovolemia.

Unlabelled: Four-dimensional flow cardiovascular magnetic resonance (4D Flow cardiac MRI) is an advanced non-invasive imaging technology, and its derived kinetic energy (KE) blood flow parameters have been confirmed as a potential biomarkers for assessing ventricular hemodynamics. This review synthesizes details on the methodology, clinical significance, and current status of studies focused on quantifying KE parameters of the ventricle using 4D Flow cardiac MRI, providing an objective foundation for further exploration of the value of KE in cardiac diseases.

Objective: This study aims to compare the cognitive workload levels of general surgery residents by measuring prefrontal cortex hemodynamic activity while performing a similar task using robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) and laparoscopic surgery simulators.
Design: The study was conducted with 22 general surgery residents who completed a peg transfer task in simulated laparoscopic and RAS training environments. Participants' performance and neurophysiological data were collected over a 1-month period.

Background: The rising growth of patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) associated with chronic liver disease (CLD) and refractory chronic heart failure (CHF) associated with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) complicated by ascites presents serious renal replacement therapy (RRT) challenges. Haemodialysis is often poorly tolerated owing to increased hemodynamic instability, bleeding, and encephalopathy risks. Peritoneal dialysis (PD) has emerged as a promising alternative, but its adoption and efficacy are not consistently supported by existing literature, and there lacks guideline consensus.
