Objective: To assess the frequency of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and alternative diagnoses in patients with suspected DVT when evaluated by a rheumatologist. Secondly, to describe the distribution of different diagnoses across three Wells score categories (low, moderate, and high).
Methods: This is an observational study of patients evaluated at a DVT Clinic for suspected DVT, with a rheumatologist-supervised evaluation, performing ultrasound scans on the affected limbs and assessing their results. The obtained diagnoses were noted along with the initial Wells scores performed by the rheumatologist.
Results: 649 patients were included. DVT was confirmed in 119/649 (18.3%) cases, with musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders, particularly arthritis and knee-related conditions, being the most common alternative diagnoses (166/649, 25.6%). 288/649 (44.4%) patients did not receive a definitive diagnosis. Higher Wells scores were more common in confirmed DVT cases, while patients with MSK disorders generally had lower Wells scores, likely due to clinical assessments that identified alternative diagnoses early.
Conclusions: MSK disorders frequently present with symptoms mimicking DVT, underscoring the value of rheumatologist-led evaluations in suspected DVT cases. Further research is needed to refine diagnostic approaches for patients with DVT-like symptoms, particularly regarding the role of MSK expertise in both physical and ultrasound assessments.

Joubert syndrome (JS) is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder associated with mutations in genes involved in ciliary function. Germline variants in CPLANE1 have been implicated in JS. In this study, we investigated a family with three adverse pregnancies characterised by fetal malformations consistent with JS.

Patients who develop Ewing sarcoma with extra-pulmonary metastasis have a poor prognosis. A recent French protocol, CombinaiR3, was set up to evaluate the efficacy of induction chemotherapy followed by high-dose chemotherapy and metronomic maintenance treatment. It is now closed for inclusions and while waiting for the results, we propose a French consensus guideline for the management of patients diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma with extra-pulmonary dissemination.

Obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is a common sleep-disordered breathing condition that exhibits a notable degree of heterogeneity, a feature not fully considered in current diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. This article reviews and analyzes research progress in the subtyping of OSAHS from multiple perspectives, including clinical feature-based subtyping, comorbidity-based subtyping, polysomnography (PSG) parameter-based subtyping, and other classification approaches. Existing studies have identified common subtypes based on clinical features and clarified the characteristics of different subgroups in comorbidity-based classifications; the rich data provided by PSG have helped optimize the classification of OSAHS; and multi-dimensional clustering has provided a more precise basis for individualized treatment.

Objective: To develop and validate a paediatric weight estimation model adapted to the characteristics of the Spanish population as an alternative to currently extended methods.
Methods: Anthropometric data in a cohort of 11 287 children were used to develop machine learning models to predict weight using height and the body mass index (BMI) quartile (as surrogate for body habitus (BH)). The models were later validated in an independent cohort of 780 children admitted to paediatric emergencies in two other hospitals.
