Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is among the earliest identified tumor markers and remains extensively utilized in the diagnosis and management of colorectal cancer. The detection of CEA presents considerable challenges in the field of analytical chemistry, given its complexity. The most prevalent detection approach is the immunoassay, including the chemiluminescence immunoassay commonly employed in clinical settings; however, discrepancies between various methods persist.

Calcium channel blockers (CCBs) for long-term (L) and transient (T) calcium channels (LTCC and TTCC) on cardiomyocytes have been suggested to manage iron-induced cardiomyopathy in transfusion-dependent thalassemia patients. However, the results of clinical trials on the effectiveness of CCBs have been conflicting. Here, we systematically reviewed previous studies to investigate the potential factors that could act as therapeutic modifiers and explain these discrepancies.

Background: Research has demonstrated that survival of adolescents and young adults (AYA) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is superior following treatment at specialized cancer centers (SCCs), such as NCI-designated Cancer Centers or Children's Oncology Group sites. However, a minority of newly diagnosed AYAs with ALL receive care at SCCs. We conducted a qualitative study to better understand provider and policy expert perspectives on this discrepancy and to identify barriers and potential solutions to improving access to SCCs for AYAs with ALL.

Background And Purpose: Entry-level physical therapist education programs must adequately prepare graduates to effectively assess, manage, and/or refer patients with foundational integumentary/wound management (IWM) concerns in any population or setting. Unfortunately, the literature reports wide variations in the number of IWM contact hours in entry-level health professions education, as well as discrepancies in specific content covered. Standardization in curricular content through consensus-based curriculum guidelines decreases treatment variability and promotes safe, evidence-based practice across a profession.

Alterations in the tumor suppressor gene TP53 are common in human cancers and are associated with an aggressive nature. Approximately 8%-12% of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) harbor TP53 mutations (TP53) and present immense challenges due to inherent chemoresistance and poor outcomes. As TP53 are more common in older individuals and those with secondary/therapy-related myeloid neoplasms (MN), their incidence is expected to increase with an aging population and rising proportion of cancer survivors.
