This review article explores the challenges and controversies involved in accurately identifying and reliably quantifying coronary plaque over time through coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA), particularly focusing on lipid-rich, low-attenuation plaques. It highlights significant variability in lipid-rich plaque measurements across studies, questioning their reliability for tracking biological plaque transformation in clinical practice. To address this issue, the review article proposes suggestions for serial CCTA plaque measurements, aiming for realistic goals for reproducible and meaningful serial plaque CCTA imaging. It also emphasizes the necessity of standardized, validated methods for quantitative plaque analysis and underscores the potential of phantom-based calibration to improve the reliability and consistency of serial plaque measurements in clinical practice.

Aim: To explore the relationship between different plaque types and pericoronary adipose tissue (PCAT) volume and attenuation values in patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) based on coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA).
Materials And Methods: Three hundred twenty one patients with stable CAD who underwent CCTA from May 2022 to March 2023 were enrolled. Using semi-automatic software, PCAT volumes and CT attenuation values were measured around the plaque and in the segment and proximal coronary artery where the plaque was located.

Patients with Type 1 Diabetes (T1DM) have a higher risk of cardiovascular disease. This study used carotid ultrasound to identify subclinical carotid plaques and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to evaluate ophthalmological markers as predictors of carotid plaque presence in 242 adults with T1DM, employing machine learning models for early risk assessment. Individuals with carotid plaques (N = 67) did not show significant differences in retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and ganglion cell layer (GCL) and inner plexiform layer (IPL) complex compared to those without (N = 175).

Materials And Methods: In this laboratory study, three toothpaste samples containing glass ionomer filler particles (0.5, 5 µm, and a hybrid combination of equal proportions of both fillers) were tested, along with a base toothpaste without fillers or fluoride and a commercial toothpaste (Colgate Total) as controls.
