Leiomyomas, benign smooth muscle tumors, are most frequently found in the uterus. Leg leiomyoma has been reported in a small number of studies, making it an uncommon finding. We present two male patients who came to the clinic with bothersome masses in their calf and knee, respectively. The radiologists could not diagnose these masses during the preoperative workup. According to pathology reports, the masses that were surgically removed were leiomyoma in one patient and angioleiomyoma in the other. Clinicians should consider leiomyoma when looking at soft tissue lumps, even though it's rare for men to have this condition in those areas. Clinical and radiographic confirmation of the diagnosis is challenging. However, a histologic analysis can support the diagnosis. The preferred course of treatment that provides instant symptom alleviation is surgical excision.

Leiomyomas are rare, benign tumors arising from smooth muscle cells. Due to the heterogeneous anatomical locations, as well as clinical and radiological findings, early and correct diagnosis is usually tricky. The clinical symptoms depend on the anatomical structure the tumors are compromising by their growth.

Objectives: To assess the efficacy and safety of sulfur hexafluoride microbubbles on ultrasound-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation of uterine fibroids.

Methods: Studies that compared HIFU-microbubble combination with HIFU-only in patients with uterine fibroids were searched from inception to April 2022. The standardized mean difference (SMD) or relative risk (RR) with 95% confidence interval (CI) for different outcome parameters was calculated.

Calcified deep somatic soft tissue leiomyoma of the leg: A case report.

SAGE Open Med Case Rep

September 2023

Department of Pathology, Tokyo Metropolitan Cancer and Infectious Diseases Center, Komagome Hospital, Tokyo, Japan.

Deep somatic soft tissue leiomyoma is a rare benign smooth muscle tumor, with around 60 cases reported thus far in the literature. Herein, we report a huge leiomyoma in deep somatic soft tissue with massive calcification in the peroneus longus muscle. A 29-year-old male patient presented with a hard, spindle-shaped, 15-cm-diameter mass of the left lower leg.

A woman in her early 50s with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and a huge uterine fibroid presented to the emergency department with diabetic ketoacidosis and bilateral acute lower limb ischaemia. Vascular and advanced imaging studies confirmed distal aortic compression by a huge uterine fibroid, resulting in extensive lower limb arterial thrombosis. After resuscitation, the patient underwent emergency hysterectomy, thromboembolectomy and amputation of the right leg.
