0.5%Au supported on γ-AlOOH and γ-AlO was used for low temperature oxidation of CO and aromatic alcohols. Various characterization techniques, including X-ray diffraction, N adsorption, FT-IR spectroscopy, XPS, TEM, CO-TPD and solid-state MAS NMR, were employed to characterize these catalysts. The Au/γ-AlOOH sample has abundant hydroxyl groups and basic sites on its surface, exhibiting strong adsorption for aromatic alcohols, and outstanding activity for low-temperature oxidation of aromatic alcohols. The Au/γ-AlO sample shows sufficient Au sites leading to high performance for low-temperature CO oxidation.

Environmental ototoxicants: an update.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

March 2025

Department of Environmental Medicine, Faculty of Public Health, Institute of Health Protection, Slovak Medical University in Bratislava, Limbová 2651/12, 833 03, Bratislava, Slovakia.

Approximately 5 years ago, we proposed the establishment of a new category of ototoxicants: environmental ototoxicants, in addition to the recognized categories of occupational and drug-related ototoxicants. Since the publication of our review, the scientific literature has confirmed the potential for hearing impairment (HI) caused by the general population's exposure to various chemicals. However, the extent of this exposure's contribution to the global incidence of hearing loss (HL) has yet to be estimated.

ConspectusAromatic functionalization reactions are some of the most fundamental transformations in organic chemistry and have been a mainstay of chemical synthesis for over a century. Reactions such as electrophilic and nucleophilic aromatic substitution (EAS and SAr, respectively) represent the two most fundamental reaction classes for arene elaboration and still today typify the most utilized methods for aromatic functionalization. Despite the reliable reactivity accessed by these venerable transformations, the chemical space that can be accessed by EAS and SAr reactions is inherently limited due to the electronic requirements of the substrate.

Catalytic degradation of kraft lignin to determine its antioxidant potential for industrial purposes.

Heliyon

February 2025

Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, Parque Estação Biológica, s/n, Av. Asa Norte, Brasília, CEP 70770-901, Brazil.

The lignin fraction of the lignocellulosic biomass corresponds to 15-30 % wt. This is largely obtained as a by-product of wood pulping to produce cellulose and paper, with the kraft process being the most used by industry. The chemical composition of lignin makes an excellent raw material for obtaining various chemical compounds with industrial applications, such as phenolic resins, biofuels and fine chemical products.

This study investigated the metabolic characteristics of mulberry wine produced by co-fermentation with (SC) and two different (PK). Although inhibited the growth of during co-fermentation, showed robust growth adaptability. Classical oenological parameters were not significantly altered by co-fermentation compared to pure-fermentation.
