To address the problems of artificial apple thinning, which are time-consuming, labor-intensive, and inefficient, this study examined the fruit thinning effect and mechanism of spraying metamitron at the young fruit stage on Gala apples grown on dwarfing inter-stocks. The results showed that spraying 500mg·Lmetamitron twice, at 3 mm and 9 mm fruit diameters, significantly reduced the fruit setting rate of inflorescences and flowers, thereby increasing the single fruit ratio. The photosynthetic parameter (Pn) and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters (Fv/Fm, ΦPSII, qP, and NPQ) were significantly inhibited by the treatment, resulting in a noticeable decrease in soluble sugar content. The treatment significantly increased abscisic acid (ABA) content and decreased the (Z+GA+IAA)/ABA ratio. These results suggest that metamitron effectively thins apple fruit, with its mechanism likely related to damage to the leaf PSII reaction center structure, obstruction of photosynthetic electron transfer, insufficient soluble carbohydrate supply due to reduced photosynthetic rate, increased ABA content, and decreased auxin hormone/ABA ratio.

A novel acidic sophorolipid-enhanced cellulose nanofiber-based coconut wax Pickering emulsion (ASL-CCPE) using cellulose nanofibers (CNF) as a stabilizer, lactonic sophorolipids (LSL) as an antimicrobial agent, and acidic sophorolipids (ASL) as a co-stabilizer were developed. Through optimization of the oil phase type, oil-to-water ratio, and ASL content, the emulsion exhibited shear-thinning behavior and elastic gel characteristics, making it suitable for coating applications. After 182 days of storage at room temperature, the emulsion's droplet size remained uniform, with no significant flocculation observed.

Early fruit size prediction in greenhouse tomato ( L.) is crucial for growers managing cultivars to reduce the yield ratio of small-sized fruit and for stakeholders in the horticultural supply chain. We aimed to develop a method for early prediction of tomato fruit size at harvest with machine learning algorithm, and three machine learning models (Ridge Regression, Extra Tree Regrreion, CatBoost Regression) were compared using the PyCaret package for Python.

Introduction: Pesticide exposure increases the risk of chronic disease among farmers. Understanding exposure is necessary for epidemiological and regulatory purposes. In Europe, worker exposure is assessed during the registration process using the OPEX model, which is based on a limited number of studies, often unpublished and carried out by pesticide companies.

Introduction: Resveratrol, a polyphenolic compound commonly found in natural plants and fruits, exhibits potential in preventing optic nerve damage in glaucoma, as indicated by several animal studies. However, there is presently a dearth of relevant evidence available for comprehensive summarization.
Methods: In this study, we conducted an extensive search across 7 electronic databases, encompassing all pertinent animal studies for a systematic review and meta-analysis.
