Nitroso compounds, R-N═O, containing N═O double bonds are ubiquitous and widely utilized in organic synthesis. In contrast, heavier congeners of nitroso compounds, namely pnictinidene chalcogenides R-Pn = E (Pn = P, As, Sb, Bi; E = O, S, Se, Te), are highly reactive and scarce. They have been stabilized in the coordination sphere of Lewis acid/base or by pronounced contribution from resonance structures, whereas free species with unperturbed pnictogen-chalcogen double bonds remains elusive. In this work, we report the isolation and characterization of arylstibinidene chalcogenides, which are the first heavier congeners of aromatic nitroso compounds. They are facilely synthesized through the salt metathesis reactions of aryldichlorostibane and dilithium chalcogenides. They bear unperturbed Sb═E (E = S, Se and Te) double bonds due to poor orbital overlap between the C 2p orbitals of the phenyl ring of the substituent and the Sb 5p orbitals. Moreover, they show versatile reactivity, including acting as chalcogen atom transfer reagents and reacting with small molecules via (cyclo)addition.

Introduction: diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease of the endocrine system characterized by elevated blood sugar levels due to disorders in insulin action, and secretion. This study aims to evaluate the antihyperglycemic and antihyperlipidemic effects of Trigonella foenum-graecum L and Coffea arabica L seeds in STZ (streptozotocin) induced diabetic mice: impact on kidney and liver functions.
Methods: twenty-six male mice aged 2 weeks, were divided into five groups: normal control, diabetic control (DC), positive control (PC), galactomannan-treated (GM), and chlorogenic acid-treated (CGA).

Late-onset cardiotoxicity induced by anthracyclines occurs years to decades after completion of anti-cancer therapy and is associated with increased morbi-mortality of cancer survivors. Chemotherapy at the time of treatment probably causes cardiac damages for which the juvenile heart compensate. Co-morbidities happening in the adulthood such as type 1 diabetes (DT1), affect the heart and thus can unmask chemotherapy induced cardiotoxicity.

Objectives: Pyroptosis is considered to play an important role in the occurrence, development and prognosis of septic acute kidney injury (SAKI). We aimed to explore the specific molecular mechanism of S-nitrosoglutathione (SNG) regulating pyroptosis of kidney tubular epithelial cells (KTECs).
Methods: By constructing a mice model of sepsis, we pretreated them with SNG and used biochemical methods to detect the levels of serum inflammatory factors and mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mtROS), assessed the severity of kidney injury and KTECs mitochondrial damage, and detected the expression of KTECs pyroptosis-related proteins and sirtuin 3 (SIRT3)/superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2) pathway proteins.

Astaxanthin derived from natural sources has excellent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, and it is currently being widely researched as a neuroprotectant. However, astaxanthin possesses low oral bioavailability, and thus, astaxanthin extract from Haematococcus pluvialis was formulated into a nanoemulsion to improve its bioavailability and administered to Alzheimer's disease (AD)-like rats to study its possible neuroprotective benefits. Astaxanthin nanoemulsion was administered orally once a day for 28 days to streptozotocin (STZ)-induced AD rats at concentrations of 160, 320, and 640 mg/kg of body weight (bw) and subsequently assessed for cognitive function using behavioral assessments.
