Layered hybrid metal halide perovskites, characterized by their distinctive quantum well structures and significant exciton binding energies, exhibit exceptional fluorescence properties, rendering them ideal candidates for high light yield scintillators. However, significant challenges remain in synthesizing layered metal halide perovskites with high photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQY), large Stokes shifts, and stable radioluminescence (RL). In this study, a stable Mn(II)-doped layered perovskite was successfully synthesized. Structural rigidity is largely enhanced by the unique carboxylic acid dimers, as a result reducing nonradiative recombination induced by the stretching vibration. Mn(II) doping into (HOOCHNH)PbBr allows for efficient energy transfer, which optimizes luminescence performance. The effects of self-absorption are almost eliminated by the significant Stokes shift induced by this doping. The distinctive T-A transition induces a pronounced orange-red emission at 613 nm, with the PLQY significantly increasing from 14.76% to 64.24%. Additionally, the scintillator demonstrates an outstanding light yield of 28,600 photons/MeV and a low detection limit of 100.8 nGy/s, maintaining exceptional stability under continuous X-ray exposure. These properties render it ideal candidates for applications in luminescent devices and scintillators.

In this study, we construct a quantum well effect-based two-dimensional Z-scheme superlattice heteronanostructure photocatalyst constructed from hydrogen-bonded porphyrin organic frameworks (HOFs) and carbon nitride. Porphyrin HOFs extend spectral absorption, while their π-conjugation and electron density variations significantly enhance charge separation and exhibit favorable alignment with the energy levels of carbon nitride, thereby enabling efficient charge transfer. Carboxylic acid channels in the HOFs further promote the decomposition of water molecules, thereby boosting hydrogen production.

Danshensu Derivatives: A Series of Promising Drugs With Protective Effects Against Cardiocerebrovascular Diseases and Cancers.

Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen in Chinese) is a traditional medicinal plant with an extensive range of cardiocerebrovascular protective effects widely used in China and other Asian countries. Danshensu (DSS) is the most important water-soluble component of Danshen and has significant antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiplatelet aggregation, antitumor, and other pharmacological activities. However, DSS has poor fat solubility and is unstable due to its o-phenol hydroxyl and α-hydroxy carboxylic acids.

The availability of water-soluble nanoparticles allows catalytic reactions to occur in highly desirable green environments. The catalytic activity and selectivity of water-soluble palladium nanoparticles capped with 6-(carboxylate)hexanethiolate (C6-PdNP) and 5-(trimethylammonio)pentanethiolate (C5-PdNP) were investigated for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol, the oxidation of α,β-conjugated aldehydes, and the C-C coupling of phenylboronic acid. The study showed that between the two PdNPs, C6-PdNP exhibits better catalytic activity for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol in the presence of sodium borohydride and the selective oxidation of conjugated aldehydes to conjugated carboxylic acids.

Metabolic reprogramming plays a crucial role in cancer biology and the mechanisms underlying its regulation represent a promising study area. In this regard, the discovery of non-coding RNAs opened a new regulatory landscape, which is in the early stages of investigation. Using a differential expression model of HOTAIR, we evaluated the expression level of metabolic enzymes, as well as the metabolites produced by glycolysis and glutaminolysis.

Overproduction of pathogenic cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) plays crucial roles in the onset and perpetuation of ulcerative colitis (UC). Inspired by sweeping robots, a magnesium@polylactic acid-glycolic acid copolymer@polyethylenimine (Mg@PLGA@PEI) microswimmer capable of cleaning off deleterious disease triggers along its path of progress is designed. Mg@PLGA@PEI is successfully synthesized by adopting a core-shell structure with a small opening which allows for Mg-water reaction.
