Background: Neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs) are rare tumors from hormone-secreting neuroendocrine cells, often within the gastrointestinal tract. The authors report what is, to their best knowledge, the first case of a small intestine NEC metastasizing to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
Case Description: A 60-year-old man came to the oral medicine, oncology, and orofacial pain clinic with a chief concern of left-sided jaw pain.

Protothecosis is a rare and unusual disease that affects both humans and animals, including dogs. The causative agents are unicellular, achlorophyllous, "yeast-like" microalgae of the genus Prototheca (Trebouxiophyceae, Chlorophyta). Although usually saprophytic, Prototheca may, under conditions of immunologic compromise, become pathogenic and even lethal to the host.

Management of African wild dogs (Lycaon pictus) in zoos involves several challenges, including the difficulty of providing appropriate stimulation and enrichment for naturally wide-ranging, energetic, cursorial hunters. Perhaps consequently, zoo packs can exhibit bouts of extreme intra-pack aggression rarely seen in the wild. As with other species, considerable efforts are required to balance the retention and exhibition of wild-type behaviors, against ensuring that the nutritional and welfare needs of individual group-living animals are met.

Alkaptonuria is an extremely rare disorder of tyrosine metabolism caused by an autosomal recessive enzymatic deficiency of homogentisic acid (HGA) oxidase, causing its accumulation in collagenous structures, especially in hyaline cartilage. It is characterized by a triad of homogentisic aciduria, bluish-black discoloration of connective tissues (ochronosis) and arthropathy of the spine and large weight-bearing joints. Several clinical manifestations were described including coronary and valvular calcification, aortic stenosis, limited chest expansion, and renal, urethral and prostate calculi as well as ocular and cutaneous pigmentation.

Pb-free dielectric energy storage capacitors are core components in advanced pulse-power electronic systems and devices. However, the relatively low energy density (W) for the industrial pillar BaTiO (BT)-based capacitors remains a significant obstacle for their cutting-edge applications, due to their low intrinsic polarization and breakdown strength (E). Herein, through chemical composition and local structure design, a giant W of 15.
