Phytochemical investigation of the flowers of led to the isolation of eight compounds. They consist of one undescribed polyphenolic isoprenylated acetophenone benzofuran, acronyculatin S (), and seven known compounds: demethylacrovestone (), acrovestone (), acroflavone A (), 3,5,4'-trihydroxy-3',8-dimethoxy-7-(3-methylbut-2-enyloxy)flavone (), xanthotoxin (), isopimpinellin () and -methylflindersine (). The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated by thorough analysis of spectroscopic (IR, NMR and ECD) and spectrometric (MS) data. Compounds and were tested against seven bacterial strains. They displayed significant activities against methicillin-resistant and with MIC values in the range of 2-8 µg/mL.

Flavonoids, a significant group of natural polyphenolic compounds, possess a broad spectrum of pharmacological effects. Recent advances in the systematic metabolic engineering of yeast cell factories (YCFs) provide new opportunities for enhanced flavonoid production. Herein, we outline the latest research progress on typical flavonoid products in YCFs.

is one of the most important genera of the Clusiaceae family, comprising up to 400 species. This review describes the identification of twenty-two flavonoids from species, which includes five flavonols ( and ), six flavones (), one catechin (), one flavanone (), and nine biflavonoids (). O- and C-glycosylation are frequently observed amongst these flavonoids.

Human serum albumin (HSA) is a serum protein that carries flavonoids in blood circulation. In this report, the binding selectivity and strength of interactions to HSA-binding sites (sites I or II) by flavonoids were evaluated using competition experiments and the specific fluorescent dyes, dansylamide and BD140. Most tested flavonoids bound site I preferentially, with the binding strength dependent on the mother structure in the order flavonol > flavone > flavanone > flavan 3-ols.
