In this field guide, we outline empirical and theory-based approaches to characterize the fundamental properties of liquid multivalent-ion battery electrolytes, including (i) structure and chemistry, (ii) transport, and (iii) electrochemical properties. When detailed molecular-scale understanding of the multivalent electrolyte behavior is insufficient we use examples from well-studied lithium-ion electrolytes. In recognition that coupling empirical and theory-based techniques is highly effective, but often nontrivial, we also highlight recent electrolyte characterization efforts that uncover a more comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the underlying structures, processes, and reactions that drive performance and system-level behavior. We hope the insights from these discussions will guide the design of future electrolyte studies, accelerate development of next-generation multivalent-ion batteries through coupling of modeling with experiments, and help to avoid pitfalls and ensure reproducibility of modeling results.

CD8+ tissue-resident memory T cells (TRM) are strategically located in peripheral tissues, enabling a rapid response to local infections, which is different from circulating memory CD8+ T cells. Their unique positioning makes them promising targets for vaccines designed to enhance protection at barrier sites and other organs. Recent studies have shown a correlation between CD8+ TRM cells and favorable clinical outcomes in various types of cancer, indicating their potential role in immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapies.

Purpose: To provide real-time, organ-specific quantitative information - specifically placental and fetal brain T2 * - to optimize and personalize fetal MRI examinations.
Methods: A low-latency setup enables real-time processing, including segmentation, T2* fitting, and centile calculation. Two nnU-Nets were trained on 2 989 fetal brains, and 540 placental datasets for automatic segmentation.

Current radiotherapy machines intended to perform streamlined online adaptive therapy are designed to be standalone, which makes it challenging to integrate them with the rest of the clinic. This work describes the installation of a standalone CT-guided online adaptive system, the Varian Ethos, in a busy clinic utilizing products from multiple vendors, including RayStation as the treatment planning system (TPS) and MOSAIQ as the oncology information system (OIS). The aim was to develop solutions that minimized workload increases for staff using redundant systems and to implement this new technology safely, with no increase in safety reports resulting from its integration into the clinic.

Employing a mixed-methods approach, this study: (a) scoped the literature for desirable characteristics of online learning environments; (b) analyzed and compared the available online systematic review and meta-analysis (SR/MA) courses; and (c) proposed an outline for a model online systematic review SR/MA course that is aligned with PRISMA principles, and (d) charted learning outcomes, module contents, interactive elements, feedback and module assessment, and course evaluation of the proposed course. The findings highlight the many distinctive aspects and design of the proposed model course, including its comprehensiveness, alignment with PRISMA principles, self-pace and self-direction, with high interactivity levels, augmented by the expert trainer guidance ('human' factor), and individualized feedback, and its conclusion with the incorporation of the learners in virtual research teams undertaking real SR/MA. The proposed model course integrates principles of problem-based learning, where in addition to the provided resources (interactive assignments and video tutorials), trainees will be actively conducting their own real SR/MA as part of the course, while receiving expert feedback to enhance learning outcomes.

There is wide recognition of the threats posed by the open dumping of waste in the environment. However, tools to surveil interventions for reducing this practice are poorly developed. This study explores the use of drone imagery for environmental surveillance.
