: We assessed how Masculine Honor Beliefs (MHB: i.e., beliefs that aggression is sometimes justifiable) relate to perceptions of and engagement in alcohol consumption. : 149 undergraduates who reported drinking alcohol primarily identified as White (89%), heterosexual (86%), women (70%), and first-year students (61%), with a mean age of 19.14. : Participants completed a survey about their drinking frequency, preferences, expectations, and behaviors. : Drinkers higher in MHB had higher alcohol consumption, preferred beer and dark liquor, and reported feeling more social, relaxed, and confident when drinking. They were also more inclined to take risks, play and win drinking games, outdrink others, and avoid a feminine drinking reputation. Men higher in MHB were less concerned with knowing their drinking limits and embarrassing themselves while drunk. : MHB are associated with greater consumption and more positive perceptions of undergraduate alcohol consumption, likely because it can improve one's status among peers.

Importance: Despite growing criticism of alcohol consumption due to its overall health risks, it remains unknown how changes in alcohol consumption, particularly cessation, affect lipid profiles outside of intense interventions.
Objective: To clarify the association of alcohol initiation and cessation with subsequent changes in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C).
Design, Setting, And Participants: This cohort study included individuals undergoing annual checkups at a center for preventive medicine in Tokyo, Japan, from October 2012 to October 2022.

Addictive behaviour is shaped by the dynamic interaction of implicit, bottom-up and explicit, top-down cognitive processes. In alcohol use disorder (AUD), implicit alcohol-related associations have been shown to predict increased subsequent alcohol consumption and are linked to the risk of relapse. Explicit cognitive processes, exerting prefrontal top-down control, are particularly significant during the critical period following the decision to abstain.

Advances in neuromicrobiology and related omics technologies have reinforced the idea that unseen microbes play critical roles in human cognition and behaviour. Included in this research is evidence indicating that gut microbes, through direct and indirect pathways, can influence aggression, anger, irritability and antisocial behaviour. Moreover, gut microbes can manufacture chemicals that are known to compromise cognition.

Sexual consent is a foundational aspect of sexual encounters as it distinguishes sexual assault from consensual sex. Despite alcohol-involved sexual assault being a serious public health issue, many college students report engaging in "consensual drunk sex." Thus, understanding how college students determine consent to alcohol-involved sex is essential.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate overall vitamin D status in the Faroese population and assess the correlation between vitamin D levels and various sociodemographic and anthropometric factors, including sex, age, exercise, alcohol and tobacco consumption, BMI, body fat percentage, and seasonal variations. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study of vitamin D levels across all adult age groups within the Faroese population.
Methods: P25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrations, anthropometric measurements and questionnaires from 1748 individuals enrolled in the FarGen 2 cohort were collected.
