Chitosan and collagen are natural polymers widely used in biomaterials science; however, their inherent low stability and solubility present several challenges to obtain formulations suitable for potential clinical applications. In this study, tannic acid (TA) was employed as a cross-linker to improve the properties of thin films made from chitosan and collagen. In addition, potassium silicate (PS) was added as an inorganic filler, to produce innovative biocomposite films.

Background: The thoracodorsal artery perforator (TDAP) flap is a versatile pedicled and free flap with low donor site morbidity and a relatively thin skin paddle. Physical patient characteristics may influence interindividual differences in perforator characteristics and, therefore, help to estimate the safety of the TDAP flap.
Methods: Dynamic infrared thermography and color duplex ultrasound were applied to assess the TDAP diameter, peak systolic velocity (PSV), end-diastolic velocity, resistance index, and thickness of the latissimus dorsi muscle and the subcutaneous tissue bilaterally in 25 subjects.

Transdermal drug administration offers an alternative route for drug delivery through the skin, and surface acoustic wave (SAW) technology has recently emerged as a promising approach to enhance this process. However, conventional cable-connected SAW control units face several challenges, including inconvenience, poor wearability, limited miniaturization and integration, and restricted reusability. This study introduces a wireless-powered transport strategy for the transdermal delivery of large drug molecules using a thin-film-based SAW platform.
