Horseshoe kidney (HSK) is a common renal anomaly associated with an increased risk of traumatic injury due to its superficial location and frequent vascular anomalies. We report a case of a 23-year-old male patient with HSK and a rare vascular anomaly, a right renal artery originating from the left common iliac artery, who sustained a grade V renal injury following blunt trauma. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) revealed active arterial bleeding and a retroperitoneal hematoma. Emergency transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) successfully controlled active bleeding. The patient recovered without complications. This case underscores the importance of pre-procedural vascular evaluation in HSKs, as well as the efficacy of TAE in managing severe renal injuries associated with complex vascular anatomy.

Background: Atezolizumab plus bevacizumab is recommended as a first-line treatment for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC). A subgroup analysis of the IMbrave150 trial showed shorter overall survival (OS) in uHCC patients with stable disease (SD) than patients with complete response (CR) or partial response (PR) after atezolizumab plus bevacizumab. Improving OS in patients with SD is an unmet medical need.

This study aims to investigate the causes and risk factors of recurrence within 6 months after transcatheter bronchial artery embolization for massive hemoptysis in pulmonary tuberculosis. A retrospective observational study was conducted on the clinical data of 237 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and massive hemoptysis who relapsed within 6 months after bronchial artery embolization. Univariate analysis was first conducted to screen for risk factors with statistical significance, and then multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to infer the risk factors that might lead to the recurrence of hemoptysis.

A 53-year-old female with a medical history of multiple cardiovascular risk factors, alcoholic chronic hepatic disease (Child-Pugh B) with thrombocytopenia, and severe calcified aortic stenosis was admitted for an elective transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). After the procedure, the patient was hypotensive and unresponsive to fluid challenge, and there was a significant difference in blood pressure between the two arms. The echocardiogram confirmed the normal position and function of the prosthetic valve but was suggestive of aortic dissection.

Herein, we report a case of transapical transcatheter aortic valve replacement and coronary artery bypass grafting performed in an on-pump beating fashion in an old woman with severe aortic valve stenosis, a porcelain aorta, severe calcified coronary artery disease, and a history of abdominal aortic replacement.
