Dermatomyositis (DM) is an idiopathic inflammatory myopathy characterized by cutaneous lesions such as heliotrope rash, Gottron's papules, and Gottron's sign. Panniculitis is rarely reported as a skin manifestation of DM. Herein, we present a case of anti-nuclear matrix protein 2 antibody (NXP-2)-positive DM relapse with panniculitis in the absence of muscle symptoms. A 32-year-old female patient was referred to our department. Nine years ago, she was diagnosed with DM and had received prednisolone (PSL) and tacrolimus therapy. However, she discontinued her visits four years ago. She most recently presented with erythematous lesions on the right thigh and buttocks without any muscle symptoms. Thirteen days later, she experienced upper limb weakness. Laboratory findings at her current presentation demonstrated elevated serum creatine kinase levels and positivity for anti-NXP-2 antibody. A skin biopsy of the erythema on her left thigh demonstrated findings consistent with healed panniculitis. Based on these findings, an anti-NXP-2 antibody-positive DM relapse was diagnosed. Her symptoms resolved with PSL and tacrolimus therapy. It is important to recognize that panniculitis is a significant, cutaneous manifestation of DM and can present as the initial manifestation of a DM relapse even in the absence of muscle symptoms.

Compartment syndrome is an orthopaedic emergency with moderate-to-severe sequela (pain, muscle contracture, nerve damage, infection, rhabdomyolysis, renal failure, etc.) if inadequately treated and can be difficult to diagnose in a timely fashion. Further complicating timely diagnosis are atypical presentations resulting in compartment syndrome.

This study investigated the effects of mental fatigue on rate of force development (RFD) and peak force during an isometric mid-thigh pull (IMTP), as well as its impact on muscle activation measured by electromyography (EMG) median frequency. Sixteen healthy, resistance-trained males completed two sessions: a control condition and a mentally fatigued state induced by a 30-minute modified Stroop task. IMTP performance and muscle activation were assessed before and after the mental fatigue task.

Objective: To develop and validate the content of a behavioral therapy protocol aiming at improving urinary incontinence in elderly women.
Method: This is a methodological study to develop and validate the content of a protocol to be applied with elderly women with urinary incontinence. It was conducted in two phases: 1) development of the protocol based on a literature review, NANDA-I and NIC; 2) content validation through evaluation of the protocol by experts in a focus group.

Purpose: Trocar site hernias impact 1-10% of patients undergoing a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, typically at the 10 mm port site. Risk factors identified for trocar site hernias include obesity and age; however, little is known about the impact of pre-existing diastasis rectus abdominus (DRA) on trocar site hernia rates. Therefore, we aimed to determine the impact of pre-operative DRA on trocar site hernia rates after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Purpose Of Review: Sarcopenia and frailty are common conditions, associated with worse clinical outcomes during critical illness. Recent studies on sarcopenia and frailty in ICU patients are presented in this review, aiming to identify accurate diagnostic tools, investigate the effects on clinical and functional outcomes, and propose possible effective interventions.
Recent Findings: The recent change of the sarcopenia definition underlines the importance of muscle strength over mass, this is however challenging to assess in ICU patients.
