Background: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of music therapy and deep relaxation technique (DRT) in reducing perioperative anxiety, a challenging occurrence that can negatively impact treatment results and patient distress, and mitigate the adverse effects of anxiety-reducing drugs.

Methodology: The study involved 90 patients, including 28 using DRT, 31 using music therapy, and 31 without intervention. The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale was employed to measure perioperative anxiety levels. DRT, music therapy, and routine interventions were used.

Results: The study found a significant difference in pretest and posttest perioperative anxiety scores between the DRT and music therapy groups. Notably, there was a significant difference between the music therapy and control groups and a highly significant difference between the control and DRT groups.

Conclusion: The study found that both music therapy and DRT can effectively reduce perioperative anxiety in patients undergoing spinal surgeries.

Depression is a common comorbidity in Parkinson's disease (PD), significantly reducing patients' quality of life. This mini-review examines pharmacological and nonpharmacological therapies for managing depression in PD, analyzing their benefits, and limitations. Pharmacological options include tricyclic antidepressants, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), levodopa, dopaminergic agonists, and monoamine oxidase B inhibitors.

Purpose: Vision impairment (VI) has a profound impact on mental health and well-being. Music-based interventions, such as active music listening, have potential to induce relaxation, improve mood, and reduce stress. This study investigated the feasibility and acceptability of a supportive self-care music intervention in adults with acquired VI, who ran their listening program independently.

Advancing personalized digital therapeutics: integrating music therapy, brainwave entrainment methods, and AI-driven biofeedback.

Mental health disorders and cognitive decline are pressing global concerns, increasing the demand for non-pharmacological interventions targeting emotional dysregulation, memory deficits, and neural dysfunction. This review systematically examines three promising methodologies-music therapy, brainwave entrainment (binaural beats, isochronic tones, multisensory stimulation), and their integration into a unified therapeutic paradigm. Emerging evidence indicates that music therapy modulates affect, reduces stress, and enhances cognition by engaging limbic, prefrontal, and reward circuits.
