Background: The study investigates the impact of effleurage massage using coconut oil on pain in chronic renal failure (CRF) patients undergoing hemodialysis. The research aims to explore the potential therapeutic benefits of this intervention in alleviating pain associated with hemodialysis.

Methods: A quasi-experimental design was used, with 150 individuals with mild to moderate leg discomfort aged 30-70 chosen. The Wong-Baker pain scale was used for pretest. After a month, a posttest was conducted.

Results: Results showed that 70% of the patients had moderate levels of leg pain, while 30% had mild pain. After the intervention, 36% had no pain, 42% had mild pain, and 22% had moderate pain.

Conclusion: The study concluded that effleurage massage with coconut oil is effective in reducing leg pain among CRF patients undergoing hemodialysis.

The oil palm ( Jacq.) is a perennial oilseed crop whose mesocarp produces palm oil rich in the unsaturated fatty acid oleic acid, known for its oxidative stability and cardiovascular health benefits. However, the regulatory mechanisms and pathways responsible for variations in oleic acid biosynthesis during fruit development remain inadequately elucidated.

Background: Head and neck cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy (RT) are at an increased risk of dental caries due to radiation-induced damage to salivary glands. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of three interventions-virgin coconut oil (VCO), casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate tooth mousse (TM), and amine fluoride mouthwash (MW)-in preventing caries among head and neck cancer patients' post-radiation therapy.

Methods: A total of 102 head and neck cancer patients undergoing RT were enrolled.

Background: Coconut milk encounters challenges related to global sustainability and its high fat content, which may potentially have adverse effects on health. Nanocrystal cellulose (NCC) has gained attention due to its amphiphilic nature, high aspect ratio and large elastic modulus, making it a beneficial natural stabilizer for emulsion stabilization. Recent studies have demonstrated that NCC plays a role in modulating gastrointestinal digestion.

Unraveling the response of secondary metabolites to cold tolerance in oil palm by integration of physiology and metabolomic analyses.

National Key Laboratory for Tropical Crop Breeding, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Haikou, 571101, China.

Background: Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis), a tropical crop, is highly sensitive to temperature fluctuations, with low temperatures significantly limiting its growth, development, and geographical distribution. Understanding the adaptive mechanisms of oil palm under low-temperature stress is essential for developing cold-tolerant varieties. This study focused on analyzing the physiological and metabolomic responses of annual thin-shell oil palm seedlings to low-temperature exposure (8 °C) for different time periods: 0 h (CK), 0.
