White adipose tissue (WAT) generally has negligible glucose utilization and thus, shows no or insignificant Fluorine-18 fluoro D-glucose (FDG) uptake. However, corticosteroids can cause altered biodistribution of FDG with increased uptake in WAT. We hereby describe a case of immune complex-mediated glomerulonephritis showing diffusely increased FDG uptake in WAT secondary to high-dose corticosteroid therapy.

Timosaponin AⅢ(TAⅢ), derived from the Chinese medicinal herb Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge, has been reported to have a range of pharmacological effects including improvement of learning and memory deficits, anti-tumor, hypoglycemic effect and anti-hypertension. This study explored the therapeutic effects and preliminary mechanisms of TAⅢ in improving insulin resistance in ob/ob mice. We found that treatment with 10 mg·kg·d of TAⅢ reduced the expression of SREBPs and alleviated ectopic lipid deposition by decreasing DAG accumulation in liver.

Background: Prior research linking myosteatosis with cognition in older adults has been conducted in relatively homogenous populations with narrow age ranges. We evaluated if abdominal myosteatosis was associated with processing speed in a multiethnic cohort of middle aged and older adults.
Methods: The sample included 1,268 adults (46-86 years-old, mean 63±9 years, 53 % female, 41 % White, 20 % Black, 14 % Chinese, and 25 % Hispanic), a subset from the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis.

Different tissues have a normal color spectrum that reflects their cellular composition and/or metabolic features. Similarly, distinct color variations may occur in tissues that have undergone pathologic or nonpathologic changes.
