Background: This study investigated the association between nasogastric tube feeding (NGF) and discharge rate to previous residences with oral intake in patients aged 80+ with aspiration pneumonia.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study included 256 hospitalized patients with aspiration pneumonia from 2012 to 2022, which could not start oral intake within 48 h due to dysphagia. Using 1:2 matched-pair analysis, the association of interest was examined using logistic regression analysis.

Results: NGF was associated with a lower discharge rate (odds ratio: 0.15; 95% CI: 0.05-0.46).

Conclusion: Patients with NGF had a lower discharge rate to previous residences with oral intake.

Introduction: Contemporary rates of survival after pediatric in-hospital CPR events and trends in survival over the last 20 years have not been compared based on illness category. We hypothesized that survival to hospital discharge for surgical-cardiac category is higher than the non-cardiac category, and rates of survival after in-hospital CPR increased over time in all categories.

Methods: The AHA Get With The Guidelines®-Resuscitation registry was queried for index CPR events in children < 18 years of age from 2000 to 2021.

Introduction: Acute variceal bleeding from portal hypertension is one of the most serious complications with a mortality rate of 15% to 25%. Terlipressin is a vasopressor that controls variceal bleeding by lowering the portal pressure and reducing blood flow to the varices.

Case Presentation: We report a case of a patient with acute variceal bleeding, treated endoscopically and with terlipressin, who developed severe hyponatremia and seizures requiring admission to intensive care.

Introduction: In recent decades, Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP) has become increasingly popular in healthcare for managing diseases, especially skin cancer. This study aimed to assess the preclinical safety of an indigenously developed dielectric barrier discharge-CAP device and its cytotoxic efficacy against melanoma cells while adhering to OECD 402 guidelines for acute dermal toxicity study. The safety evaluation includes ex vivo studies on mouse peritoneal exudates and in vivo acute dermal toxicity tests on Wistar rats.
