Background: Gastric ulcers are a form of peptic ulcers that present as ruptures of the mucosal lining of the stomach or the proximal intestinal lining extending beyond the muscularis mucosae, and infection is one of the main causative factors of gastric ulcers. However, the growing incidence of drug resistance and the emergence of specialised ulcers has necessitated continued research on gastric ulcers. This study surveyed global gastric ulcer research over the past two decades with the aim of identifying the major findings and emerging trends in the field.
Methods: Bibliometric analysis was performed using the search terms 'Gastric ulcer', 'Gastric ulcer disease', 'Gastrohelcoma', and 'Stomach ulcers'. Data were extracted from the Web of Science Core Database (WoSCC) and visualised using CiteSpace software.
Results: The Journal of Gastroenterology had the most cited papers. The largest number of papers was from the United States. The most frequently cited keywords were '', 'peptic ulcer', and 'gastric ulcer'.
Conclusion: The field of gastric ulcer research is rapidly expanding, and the existing research is focused on preventing the occurrence of gastric ulcers, exploring the pathogenesis of gastric ulcers, and identifying new methods of treating gastric ulcers.

Objective: Putative associations between certain bacteria and gastric cancer have been described previously; however, the mechanisms underlying such associations are not thoroughly understood. We aimed to confirm the presence of Fusobacterium nucleatum in the biopsy samples of patients with gastroduodenal diseases, including gastric cancer, with concomitant or without Helicobacter pylori infection.
Results: Three hundred patients with gastroduodenal disorders, including gastritis, duodenal ulcer, or gastric cancer, were included.

Gastric ulcer (GU) is a disease characterized by ulcerative lesions on the surface of the stomach mucosa caused mainly by health-related conditions, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) use, and Helicobacter pylori infections. The treatment for this disease requires that the drug remains in contact with the site of action, however, the residence time of conventional dosage forms in this organ is limited due to gastric emptying. Curcumin (CUR) is a compound obtained from the rhizomes of the Curcuma longa plant and has been used in traditional Indian medicine for many centuries.

Xiao Jianzhong Granules (XJZG), a well-known traditional prescription with protective effects on the gastric mucosa, as documented in the Treatise on Typhoid and Miscellaneous Diseases. Clinical studies have proven that XJZG exhibits significant anti-colitis properties and effectively alleviates duodenal ulcers. However, despite its clinical popularity, comprehensive studies on its chemical composition and in vivo metabolism remain limited.

Neurosurgical patients, including those with severe traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, or raised intracranial pressure, are at heightened risk for stress ulcers and aspiration pneumonitis, leading to significant morbidity and mortality. These patients are typically managed through both pharmacological interventions [, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), histamine 2 (H2) antagonists, sucralfate] and non-pharmacological measures (, nasogastric decompression, patient positioning) to mitigate adverse outcomes. The pathogenesis of stress ulcers in neurosurgical patients is multifactorial, but the routine use of stress ulcer prophylaxis remains controversial.
