Micro- and nanopatterned surfaces are highly useful as functional surfaces and in the fabrication of electronic and optical devices. Transferring high-resolution patterns into a photoresistive layer or the substrate surface is a crucial step in fabricating a nanostructure with gratings, pillar arrays, and hole arrays. In this work, a very simple yet efficient and high-throughput route for pattern transfer was investigated based on the self-assembly of block copolymers (BCPs). The high etch contrast and high density of the periodic pillar array require a vertically oriented structure of the cylinder-forming BCP. Solvent-vapor annealing under fine-tuned conditions allowed us to control the orientation of the BCP microdomains relative to the surface. Liquid-phase infiltration (LPI) of metal ions of Au, Pt, and Pd into the BCP domains effectively enhanced the etch contrast for pattern transfer. By investigating the conditions of the LPI and etching processes, it was found that the nanopatterns from BCP templates were successfully transferred into the SiO layer on wafers with a high aspect ratio of pillars. It was also shown that this process can be applied to the SiN substrate and that more diverse and complex patterns can be transferred via BCP blends. Through this work, it was demonstrated that BCP assembly combined with the LPI process can be a highly efficient and versatile route to pattern transfer with high resolution and throughput.

The distribution of electrical potentials and current in exogenous electrostimulation has significant impacts on its effectiveness in promoting tissue repair. However, there is still a lack of a flexible, implantable power source capable of generating customizable patterned electric fields for in situ electrostimulation(electrical stimulation). Herein, this study reports a fuel cell patch (FCP) that can provide in situ electrostimulation and a hypoxic microenvironment to promote tissue repair synergistically.

Mechanism and dynamics of photoswitchable flavoprotein charge-transfer complexes.

Because of their diverse uses in biological science and engineering, continued effort has been made to expand the pool of photoswitchable protein systems. A recent study demonstrated that in monomeric sarcosine oxidase (MSOX), photoexcitation of a charge-transfer (CT) complex formed by a flavin cofactor and a nonreactive ligand (, methylthioacetate) induces the ligand to reversibly change conformation, with implications for the development of flavin-dependent fast photochromic proteins. However, the factors that control the underlying switching mechanism and dynamics remain largely unexplored.

Efficient energy transfer from organic triplet states to Mn dopants for dynamic tunable multicolor afterglow in 1D hybrid cadmium chloride.

Metal ion-doped organic-inorganic hybrid metal halides have emerged as promising room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials owing to their tunable afterglow properties and significant potential in information security applications. However, optimizing RTP performance and achieving dynamic control over afterglow colors remain challenging in 1D hybrid systems, primarily because of the inefficient energy transfer from RTP-active organic components to external emissive sites. Herein, we report a novel 1D hybrid metal halide benchmark material, [(NBP)CdClHO] (NBP-Cd, NBP = -benzylpiperidone), and a series of Mn-doped derivatives, NBP-Cd:Mn (where represents doping levels from 1% to 50%).
