The systemic evaluation of the collaboration between intrinsic activity of active sites and the substrate/product diffusion rate is a key challenge for rational optimization of reaction performance in alkene epoxidation. Herein, we constructed a series of TS-1 catalysts with adjustable local microenvironments around active sites to explore their performance in alkene epoxidation. This was achieved by controlling the contributions of classical and non-classical routines during the crystallization process. Based on the characterization of active sites, product diffusion and their alkene epoxidation activity, we proposed a descriptor, , for quantitative evaluation of the collaboration between intrinsic activity and product diffusion in TS-1 catalysts. This descriptor successfully explains the catalytic performance of various TS-1 catalysts including commercial TS-1 and guides further improvement of TS-1 in different alkene epoxidations. The optimal is found in various epoxidations, corresponding to peak epoxidation performance across different substrates due to the well-balanced intrinsic activity and diffusion rate.

Platinum-based chemotherapy, despite being a cornerstone of cancer treatment, faces significant challenges due to acquired drug resistance. To address this issue, we have designed three organelle-targeting platinum(IV) prodrugs conjugated with BODIPY fluorophores, enabling spatiotemporal control through green light irradiation. These BODIPY-Pt(IV) conjugates exhibit excellent stability in PBS buffer, demonstrating resilience under physiological conditions.

The brain's complex functionality emerges from network interactions that go beyond dyadic connections, with higher-order interactions significantly contributing to this complexity. Homotopic functional connectivity (HoFC) is a key neurophysiological characteristic of the human brain, reflecting synchronized activity between corresponding regions in the brain's hemispheres. Using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging data from the Human Connectome Project, we evaluate dyadic and higher-order interactions of three functional connectivity (FC) parameterizations-bivariate correlation, partial correlation, and tangent space embedding-in their effectiveness at capturing HoFC through the inter-hemispheric analogy test.

The sluggish reaction kinetics and formidable shuttle effect of soluble lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) are thorny problems for the future industrialization of lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries. Therefore, exploring efficient electrocatalysts to capture LiPSs and accelerate their conversion is highly desirable yet tremendously challenging. Herein, a high-efficiency Bi/BiO/VMoN@rGO electrocatalyst with multifunctional active sites and multilevel heterointerfaces is elaborately designed for Li-S batteries.

Molybdenum carbide (MoC) has emerged as a subject of considerable research interest as an intrinsically Pt-like electronic and cost-effective alternative to platinum-based catalysts for the sustainable hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). However, a high carbonization temperature can easily cause the agglomeration of nanoparticles. Therefore, we employed a zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF)-assisted synthesis strategy, obtaining MoC/CN-T nanoparticles by calcining the precursor Mo-ZIF at high temperature and low pressure.

Introduction: Individuals with Down syndrome (DS) exhibit neurological deficits throughout life including the development of in Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology and cognitive impairment. At the cellular level, dysregulation in neuronal gene expression is observed in postmortem human brain and mouse models of DS/AD. To date, RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis of hippocampal neuronal gene expression including the characterization of discrete circuit-based connectivity in DS remains a major knowledge gap.
