African swine fever (ASF) is a devastating viral hemorrhagic disease caused by the ASF virus (ASFV) that can kill up to 100% of domestic pigs and wild boars. The domestic pig industry in Rwanda is highly threatened by ASF, with several outbreaks reported yearly to the World Organization for Animal Health. Despite the endemic status, no ASFV from Rwanda has been genetically characterized.

Background: Beans are a candidate food for increasing satiety due to their protein and dietary fiber content. Beef is a common animal protein that can increase satiety due to its protein content, which is higher than beans but does not contain dietary fiber. Dietary guidance encourages higher intake of plant-based protein foods and warrants satiety studies that compare plant and animal protein foods, which could particularly benefit the rapidly growing population segment of older adults.

Children who receive therapeutic feeding for wasting treatment but do not reach the anthropometric definitions of recovery (usually within 12-16 weeks) are categorised as 'non-responders' and considered as treatment failures. We conducted a pooled analysis to explore the growth trajectories of non-responders and the appropriateness of the definition of 'non-response'. We pooled 14 studies of children aged 6-59 months receiving treatment for wasting.
