Background: Invasive right heart catheterization plays a central role in identifying pulmonary hypertension (pH) disorders. However, non-invasive biomarkers of portopulmonary hypertension (PoPH) are required. Liver stiffness evaluated by FibroScan® is useful for the assessment of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic liver diseases. This study sought to investigate the utility of liver stiffness for the classification of PoPH among precapillary PH patients.

Methods: A total of 46 patients [38 females, median (interquartile range) age 63.0 (50.8-72.0) years old] with precapillary PH were divided into a PoPH group (N = 6) and a non-PoPH group (N = 40) based on the presence of portosystemic shunts and/or portal hypertension with hepatic venous pressure gradient >5 mmHg.

Results: The PoPH group showed higher cardiac index and lower pulmonary vascular resistance than the non-PoPH group. Other hemodynamic variables and liver fibrosis biomarkers such as fibrosis-4 index and albumin-bilirubin score were comparable between the 2 groups. Liver stiffness measurements in the PoPH group were significantly higher than those in the non-PoPH group [12.8 kPa (9.4-17.3 kPa) vs 4.15 kPa (3.30-5.50 kPa), p < 0.001]. The cut-off value for the classification of PoPH was 8.50 kPa from the receiver operating characteristic curve (area under curve 0.979, 95 % Confidence interval 8.50 kPa - 11.00 kPa).

Conclusions: Liver stiffness evaluated by transient elastography may be a non-invasive biomarker to detect the liver status that caused PoPH among precapillary PH patients.

Introduction: Understanding the molecular mechanism underlying the pathogenesis of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) may be beneficial in fetching new therapeutics. Our study aims to investigate the implication of Wnt/ β-catenin pathway in development of KOA by detection of the downstream target genes and their crosstalk with miR-214 in patients with KOA and to correlate that with the clinical findings.

Methods: Sixty participants were involved in the study.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is strongly associated with dyslipidemia, and the non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) is a more comprehensive indicator of lipids. This study aimed to investigate the association between NHHR and hepatic steatosis and liver fibrosis. The 2017-2020 national health and nutrition examination survey (NHANES) dataset was used for the cross-sectional survey.

Introduction And Objectives: Liver stiffness measurements (LSMs) offer a noninvasive method for monitoring liver disease development. This study evaluated the prognostic value of different LSM trajectories in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and compensated advanced chronic liver disease (cACLD) patients.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 1272 CHB and cACLD patients with at least two LSMs, applied group-based trajectory modeling (GBTM) to identify distinct LSM trajectories, and used a Cox model to analyze their associations with liver-related events (LREs) and mortality risk.

Background: Although Emerging evidence suggests the association of environmental factors with hepatic steatosis and fibrosis, the relationship between Cobalt exposure and hepatic steatosis and fibrosis was not clear.

Aim: Our study was aimed to explore the association between blood Cobalt level and hepatic steatosis and advanced liver fibrosis diagnosed by vibration controlled transient elastography (VCTE) in US adults.

Methods: This study analyzed data from 3193 individuals participating in the 2017-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys.

Background: this investigation aimed to assess the correlation between the triglyceride glucose (TyG) index and its related indicators, as well as the ratio of triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-c), with hepatic steatosis and liver fibrosis among middle-aged and elderly participants.

Methods: based on data from the 2017-2020 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, the study included adults of ages 40 years and older in the United States. To explore the correlation between TyG and its related indicators, as well as TG/HDL-c with hepatic steatosis and liver fibrosis, multiple regression models were employed.
