Pulmonology Disease and Critical Care, NCH (Naples Comprehensive Health) Healthcare System, Naples, USA.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors are rare benign mesenchymal neoplasms composed of myofibroblastic cells intermixed with an inflammatory infiltrate of cells including plasma cells, lymphocytes, and histiocytes. These tumors are commonly seen in children and are rare in adults. Management of these tumors is challenging due to their unpredictable behavior.

Meigs' syndrome is a rare gynecological condition characterized by a benign ovarian tumor, ascites, and pleural effusion, all of which resolve spontaneously after tumor removal. While mildly elevated serum CA-125 levels are frequently observed, levels exceeding 1,000 IU/mL are extremely rare, and concurrent elevation of other tumor markers, such as HE-4, may further complicate its diagnosis. We report a case of Meigs' syndrome in a 41-year-old premenopausal woman.

Pulmonary manifestations and clinical management of echinococcosis in a low-endemic region of Mexico: a 15-year retrospective cohort study at a tertiary hospital.

March 2025

Dirección de Investigación, Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Respiratorias "Ismael Cosío Villegas", Calzada de Tlalpan 4502, 14080, Ciudad de México, México.

Background: Cystic echinococcosis has a low incidence even in endemic countries. It is a chronic and complex zoonosis that in many cases presents delay in diagnosis; it typically affects the liver in up to 90% of the cases, being disseminated pulmonary disease the most common in young subjects, while the rate of cases located only in the pulmonary parenchyma is low. In Mexico it is considered a disease of low endemicity.

Biomass-based functional materials are known as versatile and cost-effective sources for the formation of different advanced nanocarbon materials. Sorghum stalks biomass is a main residual lignocellulosic agricultural material that produces huge amounts after harvesting of sorghum grains. However, Sorghum stalks biomass material has low density, large specific volume, and no nutritional value, therefore actions are required for its valorization.

Introduction: A previous study found that following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), 67% of out-of-hospital 12-lead electrocardiograms (ECGs) diagnostic for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) changed to non-STEMI on repeat emergency department (ED) ECG. Here we evaluated associations with resolution of STEMI on ED ECG.

Methods: In this secondary analysis of a previous retrospective study, adults (≥18 years) with return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) following OHCA, at least 1 out-of-hospital and ED ECG and transport to the study hospital were entered.
