Eosinophilic cystitis (EC) is a rare presentation in childhood, with just over 100 cases reported in the literature. It often presents with haematuria and irritative lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) including frequency, urgency and dysuria. EC can be treated conservatively or surgically. We present a case of an early adolescent male patient who presented with dysuria and haematuria. An ultrasound scan and MRI revealed a lesion in the bladder wall raising the suspicion of malignancy. The initial biopsy was inconclusive, and so imaging was repeated a month later, showing the bladder mass had altered in position, which was confirmed at cystoscopy. Biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of EC. Symptoms resolved, but the patient represented 3 years later with irritative LUTS, haematuria and a left-sided bladder mass on imaging. Biopsy confirmed a reoccurrence of EC and he was managed successfully with oral steroids.

Little is known about the significance of mycoplasmas in different free-ranging bird species. One hypothesis is that the prevalence of mycoplasmas and the influence of vocalization on reproduction are evolutionarily linked. To add another piece of information toward proving or disproving this hypothesis and obtain more information about the clinical relevance of mycoplasmas, choanal swabs from different passerine species presented to a veterinary clinic were examined for mycoplasmas using culture and Mycoplasma genus-specific PCR.

Retrocaval ureter (RU) is a rare congenital malformation where the ureteric pathway is altered, passing posteriorly around the inferior vena cava (IVC). Occasionally, this leads to the IVC compressing the ureter, resulting in obstruction. In this report, we discuss a male who presented with severe right-sided flank pain and was otherwise well with no significant medical, urological, or birth history.

Situs inversus is a rare congenital anomaly that results in the transposition of the abdominal organs, leading to atypical clinical presentations, such as left-sided appendicitis. Acute appendicitis is the most common cause of right iliac fossa pain; however, its occurrence on the left side is exceedingly rare and often leads to diagnostic delays, which may result in serious complications such as peritonitis if not promptly addressed. Imaging modalities, particularly computed tomography (CT), play a critical role in the anatomical and pathological diagnosis, thereby guiding appropriate surgical management.

Primary esophageal melanoma (PEM) is a rare and aggressive malignancy with limited treatment options. Due to its rarity, no standardized guidelines exist for managing oligometastatic recurrence, particularly in resource-limited settings. We present a case of a 60-year-old male with PEM who underwent esophagectomy followed by surgical resection of an adrenal metastasis.
