The objective of this study was to evaluate the selectivity of four post-emergence herbicides in the cultivation of industrial hemp. Hemp was grown in 3.5 L pots with inert substrate in the absence of weeds throughout the crop cycle. The experimental design adopted was a randomized, complete block design with five treatments and four replications. The herbicides atrazine (2.500 g a.i./ha), clethodim (96 g a.i./ha), fomesafen (250 g a.i./ha), and nicosulfuron (54 g a.i./ha) were applied when the plants were approximately 35 days after cutting. Visual assessments of herbicide-induced injury symptoms were conducted, along with measurements of the number of leaves, plant height, stem diameter, and total aerial part dry mass. When nicosulfuron was applied after emergence, it caused 60.0% damage 21 days after application (DAA), which changed the number of leaves, height, stem diameter, and total aerial part dry mass of hemp plants in a big way. Fomesafen caused 42.5% injury at 5 DAA, and atrazine caused 42.5% injury at 21 DAA, which may compromise the final yield. Therefore, it is recommended to use only clethodim, a selective herbicide for broadleaf plants such as hemp, as it did not cause significant injuries during the evaluation period.

We present a method for developing high-strength, sustainable yarns from microbial biofilms with minimal processing and chemical use. Inspired by the japanese "kami-ito" () technique for creating yarns from paper, we introduce an eco-friendly alternative to cotton and industrially-produced man-made cellulose fibers using a microbial cellulose source. We culture and dye bacterial cellulose biofilms that we used to produce yarns with tensile strengths of up to 200 MPa (55 MPa in the wet state).

In this work, two metal-organic porous materials from the two imidazole-based ligands (4-methylimidazole-5-carbaldehyde (aImeIm) and histidine (His)) and the same metal source (Zn(CHCOO)·2HO), namely His-ZIF-93 with a crystal zeolite imidazolate framework and His/aImeIm@Zn with an amorphous networks, were first designed and synthesized by the one-pot method. They were used as the stationary phases (SPs) of open-tubular capillary electrochromatography (OT-CEC) to evaluate and compare their separation performance for the nonchiral and chiral compounds. His-ZIF-93-bonded OT-CEC column successfully separated five families of nonchiral analytes due to the synergistic effect of His and the crystal framework.

Introduction: The rapid growth in popularity of e-cigarettes over the past decade has prompted concerns about their impact on long-term respiratory health. Small airway injury is suspected to be a direct consequence of e-cigarette use and may be quantifiable by novel structural and functional diagnostic modalities.
Methods And Analysis: In a multicentre observational longitudinal study, participants will be enrolled in either an adolescent (ages ≥12 and <19 years) or an adult arm (≥19 years old) and followed over 3 years across three time points (baseline, 18 months and 36 months).
