Electrospray ionization fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry was applied to evaluate the organic oxygen composites (OOCs) in methanol fraction derived from the supercritical alcoholysis of original and pretreated straw (WS) utilizing Trichoderma sp. AH. In the methanol-soluble fraction (MSF) of untreated and preconditioned WSs, On (n =  1-10), with double bond similar values of 1-28 and carbon atom numbers of 4-35, was the most predominant OOCs in the negative ion mode. O5 and O4 were the most prominent OOCs in the MSF of original and preconditioned WS, respectively. These results assist in comprehending the impact of Trichoderma sp. AH pretreatment on the specificity, and transformation of OOCs in WS alcoholysis and the application of MSF to manufacture fuel source.

The effectiveness of one-pot saccharification process combining pretreatment and enzymatic hydrolysis of biomass for fermentable sugar production is highly influenced by the choice of solvent media. The potential of choline-based ILs coupling with different anionic species remains underexplored regarding their compatibility with cellulase. Herein, the effects of choline-based ILs formulated with amino acids as anionic species on cellulase from Trichoderma reesei were evaluated using both experimental and computational approaches.

Utilising common bean and strawberry vegetative wastes in yellow mealworm (Tenebrio molitor) substrates: effects of pre-treatment on growth and composition.

Integrating plant production with insect farming, termed "entomoponics," involves using plant waste as a substrate for insect rearing, while returning insect frass to fertilise the plants. In this study, vegetative wastes from strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa), and common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), were incorporated into a wheat bran-based substrate for rearing the yellow mealworms (MW; Tenebrio molitor). The wastes were either autoclaved or autoclaved then fermented with the fungus Trichoderma reesei, and mixed in a 50:50 ratio with wheat bran.

An innovative strategy has been developed to utilize distillers grains (DGS) as a substrate for solid-state fermentation (SSF) to synthesize echinocandin B (ECB). In this study, the optimal fermentation parameters for Aspergillus pachycristatus were determined as follows: an inoculation density of 1 × 10 spores/gram dry substrate (gds), pH maintained at 6, temperature controlled at 30℃, moisture kept at 60 % (v/v), and cultivation duration set to 6 days. Engineered Trichoderma reesei is employed to pretreat DGS and enhance the release of nutrient substances for subsequent utilization by A.

The breakdown of cellulose is one of the most important reactions in nature and is central to biomass conversion to fuels and chemicals. However, the microfibrillar organization of cellulose and its complex interactions with other components of the plant cell wall poses a major challenge for enzymatic conversion. Here, by mining the metagenomic 'dark matter' (unclassified DNA with unknown function) of a microbial community specialized in lignocellulose degradation, we discovered a metalloenzyme that oxidatively cleaves cellulose.
