An external-photocatalyst-free visible light-induced regioselective C-3 sulfenylation of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines using Bunte salts has been accomplished via C(sp2)-H functionalization. This protocol allows the coupling of a wide range of imidazoheterocycles with alkyl-, benzyl-, and aryl Bunte salts under ambient air as the sole oxidant. The radical scavenging, UV-visible spectroscopic studies, and Stern‒Volmer experiments revealed that the reaction occurs through energy transfer followed by a radical SET pathway. In this work, the dual role of imidazopyridines as photoexciting species and as energy transfer vehicle is proposed. Activation of the triplet oxygen as a result of energy transfer, which acts on somophlic Bunte salts to generate thiyl radical, eventually resulting in the C(sp2)-H functionalization.

We studied a family of coordination compounds with short intramolecular spatial separation between an organic chromophore and a metal centre. The specific geometry was realized by means of anthracene-functionalized tertiary aryl phosphanes. Their silver and gold complexes (1, 2) operate as conventional fluorophores, with photophysical behavior defined by anthracene-localized allowed transitions.

A disposable, self-powered enzymatic biofuel cell (BFC) sensor integrated with a hollow microneedle array (HMNA) for glucose monitoring in interstitial fluid (ISF) is reported. The HMNA enables painless and minimally invasive ISF extraction. The BFC uses dehydrogenase (GDH) in conjunction with NAD, diaphorase (DI), and vitamin K (VK) serving as electron transfer mediators as the anode catalyst and Prussian blue (PB) as the electrochromic cathode.

Naphthenic acids (NAs) are indigenous and complex components in petroleum. In the context of increasing global energy demand, the increasing extraction of fossil resources leads to increased environmental release of NAs, resulting in various environmental risks. However, the impact of NAs exposure on soil microorganisms remains still unclear.

In this study, we construct a quantum well effect-based two-dimensional Z-scheme superlattice heteronanostructure photocatalyst constructed from hydrogen-bonded porphyrin organic frameworks (HOFs) and carbon nitride. Porphyrin HOFs extend spectral absorption, while their π-conjugation and electron density variations significantly enhance charge separation and exhibit favorable alignment with the energy levels of carbon nitride, thereby enabling efficient charge transfer. Carboxylic acid channels in the HOFs further promote the decomposition of water molecules, thereby boosting hydrogen production.

Here, we demonstrate through AFM imaging and CD spectroscopy that the binding of silver ions (Ag) to poly(dGdC), a double-stranded (ds) DNA composed of two identical repeating strands, at a stoichiometry of one Ag per GC base pair induces a one-base shift of one strand relative to the other. This results in a ds nucleic acid-Ag conjugate consisting of alternating CC and GG base pairs coordinated by silver ions. The proposed organization of the conjugate is supported by the results of our Quantum Mechanical (QM) and Molecular Mechanics (MMs) calculations.
