This case describes an atypical presentation of isolated posterior ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), who presented with left arm numbness and weakness, mimicking an acute stroke. Diagnosis was confirmed with coronary angiogram showing occlusion in proximal left circumflex artery, as well as rise in troponin. This atypical presentation highlights the importance of maintaining high index of suspicion and casting a wide net of differential diagnoses in initial assessment of patient in the emergency department.

Impact of a three-week full leg cast immobilization on infant crawling kinetics and spatiotemporal parameters.

PLoS One

Wellstar College of Health and Human Services, Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, Georgia, United States of America.

Despite its importance in the development of mobility in infants, there is a general lack of quantified data on infant crawling, and a specific lack of understanding of crawling kinetics, which includes the relative weightbearing and force generation among the four limbs. Moreover, because of the difficulty of measurement and study design, there is no longitudinal quantification of the impact of a perturbation to typical development, such as limb immobilization. This study measured kinetic and spatiotemporal outcomes in a typically developing infant prior to a fracture that necessitated a long-leg cast that immobilized the left knee and ankle, while crawling with the cast, and again one day after cast removal, and two weeks post.

Safety evaluation is important during both the pre-market clinical trials and post-market surveillance. In either a pre-market or post-market setting wherein the safety of a device is compared to that of a control device, it is desirable to identify any difference in the safety between two devices as expeditiously as possible. Here, we introduce the Bayesian hierarchical framework for the safety assessment in two-arm clinical trials, with signal detection accomplished by evaluating the effect size of each adverse event (AE) measured by odds ratio or relative risk.

Ergonomic risks are a global problem in construction, with health effects that have an impact on the economy. Risk assessment allows companies to identify the risks and the exposure levels to which the workers are subjected and allows to define management plans to address them. However, studies to assess risk levels through new techniques are very scarce in construction.

Aims: Extended orthodontic treatment leads to a number of negative outcomes, including a higher chance of dental cavities, gingival recession, open gingival embrasure gaps, and root resorption. It has been stated that micro osteoperforations (MOPs) use the biology of the body to speed up tooth movement. Our objective was to investigate how MOPs with micro implants affected the tooth movement rate.

Background: There is a need for additional data to assess procedural efficacy and risks associated with mechanical thrombectomy for treating pulmonary embolism (PE) due to its increased utilization and diversity of patient populations presenting with PE. This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of percutaneous mechanical aspiration thrombectomy with the AlphaVac F18 System (AngioDynamics) in patients with acute intermediate-risk PE.

Methods: Patients with acute intermediate-risk PE and a right ventricular (RV)/left ventricular (LV) diameter ratio of ≥0.
