Acute vestibular syndrome (AVS) is a common clinical presentation. Common causes include peripheral, self-limiting labyrinthine disorders, but a significant proportion are caused by posterior circulation stroke (PoCS). Delineating between a peripheral versus central cause in AVS is challenging for acute care physicians, but a simple, three-step bedside test known collectively as the HINTS examination may be useful.

This study aims to examine the ambiguity and uncertainty surrounding crisis management and the implementation of national recommendations in two public-sector organizations during the initial phase of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study is based on two case studies: a municipality and a county administrative board in Sweden. Data were collected through interviews, surveys, and participation in meetings, and they were analyzed using a practice theory lens.

Introduction: Homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) is a key biomarker in the management of high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC), guiding treatment decisions, particularly regarding the use of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (PARPi). As multiple HRD assays are available, each with distinct methodologies and cutoff values, the interpretation and clinical application of HRD testing remain complex. This intergroup statement, endorsed by the German Ovarian Cancer Commission, NOGGO, AGO Austria, and AGO Swiss, aims to provide guidance on the indications, appropriate use, and limitations of HRD testing in ovarian cancer.

This study examines the imperative to align artificial general intelligence (AGI) development with societal, technological, ethical, and brain-inspired pathways to ensure its responsible integration into human systems. Using the PRISMA framework and BERTopic modeling, it identifies five key pathways shaping AGI's trajectory: (1) societal integration, addressing AGI's broader societal impacts, public adoption, and policy considerations; (2) technological advancement, exploring real-world applications, implementation challenges, and scalability; (3) explainability, enhancing transparency, trust, and interpretability in AGI decision-making; (4) cognitive and ethical considerations, linking AGI's evolving architectures to ethical frameworks, accountability, and societal consequences; and (5) brain-inspired systems, leveraging human neural models to improve AGI's learning efficiency, adaptability, and reasoning capabilities. This study makes a unique contribution by systematically uncovering underexplored AGI themes, proposing a conceptual framework that connects AI advancements to practical applications, and addressing the multifaceted technical, ethical, and societal challenges of AGI development.

The COVID-19 pandemic unmasked striking health disparities within the US healthcare system and significantly impacted vulnerable populations. While much attention on vulnerability has been directed toward older individuals with underlying medical conditions, key populations-including the uninsured, racial and ethnic minorities, and pregnant individuals-were considerably affected and require intervention. This review examines the barriers these populations encountered and outlines how clinicians can engage at the provider, practice, community, and national levels to advance health equity and improve health outcomes for these groups in the post-pandemic era.
